OK, this is the second funniest thread I've read -- second only to that really long SL55 one. Isn't someone going to try to taunt him into posting his tax return -- and not a photoshopped version (you had to read the SL55 post). And isn't there a difference between a business that leases vehicles and writes them off and an individual who leases a vehicle and wants to write it off as a business expense. I think the good doctor is the former, no? Oh well, this is good stuff for a guy stuck at work on a Sunday night.

The only way legally to use a leased vehicle as a business expense I believe is for the business to lease the vehicle. An individual may use his personal owned car for business but then only the miles used at work and the car's depreciation are deductible.

That's what I thought. I don't get the benefit of that but I have a friend with a leased C32 who does. He doesn't buy any of his MBs; his business leases them and he drives them. But then again, I'm not a tax lawyer so what do I know.

Very true about the first part. An individual can write off up to 100% of the lease against any personal business (schedule c) income. The red flag to the IRS auditors is low revenue high vs. a very high auto cost. Another one is always losing money. they can claim you are ahobby and not a true, for profit business. Been there. Done that.

No, I was the guy with the fastest autocross time though. It sure seems like 3 years waiting for this car (due to arrive in port tomorrow) but it's only been 18 months.
