Salvage E55
I tend to check Ebay from time to time for E55's and see where the prices are etc. There seems to always be a couple of salvaged E55's on there. Has anyone here bought one before? I was looking into what it would take to get one registered here in IL and it looks like it would be a pain in the ***. Plus a lot of insurance companies won't give full coverage if it has a salvage title.
I did see one that said it had a clear FL title with a salvage CA title in its history. How the heck does that work???/

yea every state has different laws.. some states dont even use the label "salvage" only junk or clear/clean titles. if you need a loan, credit unions are usually the only way to go as banks wont give loans for salvage. Im not sure about IL's laws. good idea to call secretary of state office.
Maybe FL only uses junk or clean so it was automatically made a clean when registered...?
perfect scenario to own a salvage car is.. pay with cash or loan from credit union, than use a dealer plate and label it a company car for insurance.. I F'in hate all kinds of insurance!

Correct. I wasn't discussing the maint. Just the process to buy. Seemed like there were a lot out there relative tot he sample size.
As far as the maint. my coaching buddy owns a ind. mercedes repair/dealer that I trust so atleast I have someone I can take the car to. As he says... if you are buying a E55 better be ready to spend 2k a year min. just to keep it going.

Salvage title car can be very problematic and might increase your repair bill.
A clean title will save your money in long run and easier to resell. Too many things can go wrong with Salvage, you just don't know. Water damage can be really tricky.
