What are your IAT's compared to ambient?

My IAT's tend to run about 15F - 20F above ambient while cruising around 100MPH. WOT will bring it up to about 140F-150F with an ambient of 65F. (no chiller and no split system).

Sounds similar (I believe mine are more like 20 - 25* above ambient)...If you have a larger crank pulley, your IATs will be higher and take a bit longer to come back down.

Next time you are at AMG, would you ask them a few questions :
(1) Why did they not split the system ?
(2) Why did they not run the heat exchanger pump all the time ?
(3) Their thoughts on removing the headliner (acting as a heat soak ??) ?

Thanks!

Are you ready for 6 million people this week?

I'm north of you in the Pfalz and get the same results without a split system.

Probably in München in a few weeks.

I think I can answer that - - - MB never intended the car to be any more than the world's fastest, best performing 4 door sedan out of the box . . . and that it was for several years. So today, with the help of many enthusiasts, this same car, now 10 years old, can still outperform 99% of anything on the road and at the same time cruise in absolute comfort and safety.

My W109 was built in 1968 with the same goals.

Hi Florian, I have the parts for a split system here in Germany, but I have not bothered to convert it. For me, I do not think it will add much improvement. have a larger heat exchanger and that did help.

I will let you know when we are in München
