I'd love to have an MB V12, but they all tend to have ABC suspension ( Airmatic = $$, ABC = $$$$$$$ ) and the V12 parts a hella expensive.

with a tune any of the 600's will be faster than any 65's STOCK. with the tune they will make over 600hp, this goes for the s600 cl600 sl600. my wife has an 05 sl600 with just a tune and it'll run over my e55 off the line and in the 1/4. car can be expensive to maintain but the v-12 engine is something special

enjoy and make the move!

Truely gents, this is one of those, "Hidden doors" in life that if you're looking to buy an MB, go through CarMax.

Alex
The CarMax "MaxCare" service contracts are valid from the original in-service date of the car, not the date you purchase the car. At least, that's how my local CarMax explained it to me a couple of weeks ago. He said their policy had changed on that. I don't think they will write a service contract on a pre-2006 car, but I'm willing to be proven wrong.

My only other input is to perhaps consider an 07 with the newer body style and headlights. Some guys could care less but I would want a newer looking S. If no biggie to you, then snag one and let's see that monster torque in action!!
Thanks for the advice!

As an owner of a CL(55), I can say you will love this car. BUT...

It's like a hot, high-maintenance girlfriend that needs a lot of attention. Sometimes though, it's worth all the hassle

I don't think this is accurate as I spoke to them live on the 2005 and she ran the numbers over the phone for me as we spoke. Think about it for a second, a 2005 - 2011 is a 6 year span or 72 months. If that were the case, today being 2012, that very same 2005 would not qualify for a 72 month warranty as it expired in 2011 per your statement and she would have told me, "I'm sorry this doesn't qualify for a warranty." She did quite the opposite and gave me those numbers over the phone.

I'm very sure she quoted me additional months/miles from the date of purchase of the car at CarMax, not the orginal date of the car.

In fact I have a 5 year Carmax Warranty on my 2004 E55 that I bought in 2010 from them good to 100K and I've had no issues.

No no offense meant, but I think your guy got it wrong.

Love it! Totally get the dynamic here and hopefully the extended warranty will keep an S600 in, "Fighting shape"
