From what I understand another member just removed one of the pc board from his original cluster and put it in the used 200mph cluster and everything worked. The mileage was transferred also. I have pictures of what he did they are on my work computer I will post them up later on.

When you do your star programming you also need star developer to program the spedo to be "Non Linear" otherwise your speedo will show 200 when you are doing 160
or maybe you want to play that game

2004 E55K AMG Wagon
I went the same route as Pearlpower suggest, the cluster was flashed to zero mileage so when connected to my car the mileage updated automatically. Star was needed to program all the options (lighting etc). Sorry cant say what was used to flash the mileage as the guy selling it had already flashed it.

The uk amg has white faced dials , and a 160 mph speedo , as I like to drive around at 180 at the very least I decided to change it .*
*Real reason I picked up a black faced 200 mph cluster for £40

The cluster you will be installing needs to be either:
1. NEW
2. If used flashed back to 0 miles.
Before you take the original cluster out you MUST have Star with DEVELOPER MODE!
Go into the developer menu of Star diagnose after you have entered your current instrument cluster and then you take simple digital pictures of all the different variable settings that you see in the sub menus under READ CODING AND CHANGE IF NECESSARY after you have pictures of all those variables you can connect the new instrument cluster...disregard the message about the cluster not being assigned to the car and tell star diagnose NOT to do initial startup...go to the regular READ CODING AND CHANGE IF NECESSARY (not in developer mode but in regular mode) and CHANGE ODOMETER READING (however that is called) - and make the new instrument cluster adapt the mileage from the ignition switch (EIS)...if the star diagnose is able to read the values properly, it will show the mileage in the IC being 0 and the mileage in the EIS being what it is and you confirm the reading...if the star diagnose shows that it is unable to read the odometer reading you have to stop right there and go a different route
After the new IC took the odometer reading you will have to set the date of production (to be taken out of EPC or from your car registration papers) once you did that you can go back into the developer menu - to READ CODING AND CHANGE IF NECESSARY and change all variables to make them match the old E55 IC variables...you will notice that there are some extra/different/missing variables but it will all become clear when working on it.

That is a CLS63 amg cluster which I installed in my 2003 E55. The new cluster added some new cool features such as: oil temperature, battery voltage, lap timer.

I ordered it specifically with the aluminum bazel because I like it this way better. It matches my silver car and shifter trim perfectly.

I'm seeing the parts guy at the weekend and we are going through the dealers old part stock . At one time if they took a car in with upgrades they put it back to stock before reselling due to the MB warrenty .
Wil give you a list of what parts he has .

Thanks for this post. I just installed a E63 cluster in my E55 this way and it worked great. No need to program anything. I did notice however I didn't seem to get the extra features others have mentioned (e.g. lap timer, additional oil temp gauge etc.). Anyway to enable this without STAR?

hello everyone i recently swapped out my speedo for an e63 speedo. i swapped the pcb so i have retained the old mileage but my issue is the speedo reads 200mph when im doing 160mph. does anyone know how to fix this?

That sounds like you just need to have your speedo recalibrated. I don't know the procedure, but you already know this.
