Newb
As the title says, I am a newb in these parts, but have been lurking for a month or so. Just picked up an 05 E55 last month while on leave from Afghanistan. It was bitter-sweet, as I decided to trade in my highly modified Dodge Charger SRT8, as it had 130K on it. It was my baby!!
I have a few mods planned for the AMG, but not until I can return from this deployment. First off will be some 19's, heat exchanger, pump upgrade, beast tubes, and drag radials for the track.
I am definately looking forward to getting home and taking the kids on a long road trip in order to break her in.

First and foremost thank you for your service!
Welcome, by my username you can see I have the same love for American sports cars that you do. Hopefully you'll post up some pictures so we can see your car soon.

Yes welcome and thanks you for your service to this fine country! For mod's here's the approach I took from cheapest/most bang for the buck to most expensive. You don't have to follow this exact sequence but it's worked well for me. See video in my signature to see the results.
I too am a HEMI man as well having owned a HEMI Durango and HEMI 300C. SRT-8 is my next love after AMG.
Ok here's what I did in this order.
K&Ns > CM30 Interncooler Pump > Eurocharged Tune > Eurocharged Heat Exchanger > 180mm Pulley > Eurocharged Re-tune > Floor Fabbed Long Tune Headers > Eurocharge Re-tune > Red Stuff Brake Pads > Upgraded Spark plugs.
What's left to do for me is a TCU tune, larger throttle body and perhaps 550cc injectors.
Again the approach I took was to maximize my HP per dollar for my first mods, saving the more expensive ones (like headers) for last.
Thanks!
Alex

I attached a few pictures. 1st is the new (to me) E55. 2nd is my SRT 8 that I traded, and 3rd is my Victory Vegas 8-ball, and the last one is the last time ate the track for the SRT8 (the silver 5 series next to the charger is my wifes car)
Mods to the Charger included a Quaife LSD, Custom 218/223 Camshaft, Cylinder heads, forged rods, 100 shot of nitrous, headers, custom exhaust, 20" gloss black 300C SRT wheels, and 22" Vossen VVS078 for shows. Also had a custom paint job on hood, front bumper, trunk, and tinted tails. Ended up striping everything but the exhaust, and rods before the trade.

Thanks for the sacrifice you and your family are making for all of us. We have a few things in common. I served from 1996-2001 and traded my Challenger SRT8 in for my E55. I also owned a 300C SRT8. You are going to love your W211! Btw, they are flawless on the road. I took mine over 7K miles over the course of 20 days. Let us all know how long it takes the smile to come off of you and the kids faces.
