DEALERSHIP RIP OFF??
Ladies / Gents,
My local dealership (MBOLN) wants $437.10 to do a brake fluid flush plus install new Akebono pads front / rear. I have a $75 MBUSA coupon to use making the bill roughly $360. The service writer originally quoted me $89.99 for the brake flush but now tells me something about my SBC unit and the cost went way up. Is this guy blowing "smoke up my A$$" or am I getting a good DEAL here??
Thanks,
DG

I think it is totally fair. If you knew the process and amount of fluid it take to bleed the SBC system with the DAS you will under stand. it will probably go through 1 1/2 quarts of fluid if not more.
In the DAS you need to follow the instructions. It will bleed each wheel independently and uses a lot of fluid.

Unfortunately, there is sure to be a heap of E55s that end up "riced out", broken, crashed and discarded as that process plays itself out....

Funny that I just had this conversation last week. A buddy came over and mentioned he wants to get another car, and mentioned he wanted to get into a 'V8 4-door sedan' and asked about my E63 and maintenance costs. I told him that this was not like his Subaru. That everything costs more, and to know it going in, or don't bother buying the car.
Kyle: 'So, how much are oil changes for the E63?'
Me: 'Well, I just paid about $150 at the dealer.'
Kyle: (stunned silence) 'Ummm...wow. What the hell do they fill it with, gold?'
Me: 'No. It take a lot of Mobil 1 synthetic oil, and Mercedes dealers labor rates are not cheap, but I knew that going in. It was almost $100k when it was new, so it is not going to be a $29 oil change.'
Kyle: 'But...wow...ummm...'
Me: 'Kyle...I will tell you what I tell anyone that asks about maintenance. If you have to penny pinch, do NOT buy a Mercedes...especially an AMG. Because you will be broke and disappointed. They are great cars, and very reliable when maintained properly. Just know that that kind of proper maintenance costs money.'
Kyle: 'I guess I will have to get something else...wow.'
These cars are not for everyone. But I love mine.
