O/T. Engine gurus advice needed

Me and a few friends decided we wanted to build a nice little street car, but have disagreements on engine setup. We can get the following engines: an older Ls1, a Chevy 302, a 350 (forgot brand), or a 4.3 liter out of a mustang gt. Our goal is 700 crank HP. We are open to forced induction or cheater juice (or both), but would prefer to keep stock internals. Thoughts?

5.3L v8 engine out of Chevy trucks had proven to make +1000whp with boost and stock internal.

07' SL65, 04' E55, 03' Evo8, 08' GSXR, DSM's...
The Ls engines seem to be the most popular.

Yea I've heard you can shove enormous amounts of boost and nos into an ls1.

4.3L isn't from a mustang. LS engines are by far the cheapest and easiest to make tons of power with.

I like the diesel idea lol. I've got a cummins making around 600hp and over 1300 ft/lbs of torque and drive it daily and tow with it. I've gone a 7.8 in the 1/8 at 8000lbs so far. Now I've got a 66mm single turbo so with enough fuel ill be in that 700hp range.

We are getting the engine we choose for free, and I think we have some cheater juice kits we are getting so that leaves about $2-3000 in our budget. We were thinking about using an older Camaro body for the project.

Looking at your engine choices, I think you are confusing them. Most likely a Ford 302, Chevy 350, and the 4.3 sounds like another GM motor unless you meant a 4.6 from a.Mustang. I would go with the LS1 or the 4.3(if its the straight 6 ).
You mentioned budget...how much is set aside for braking and safety components?

try to think outside the box. everyone in town has a camaro or stang or vette they run. hoo hum. maybe a 240 z with a v8? an old vega or s10 pickup? i saw a guy with a 60's pickup and a cummins diesel that had over 1300 ft/lbs of torque. massive wheelies on every launch!

also saw a guy with a nissan 240sx and put a new 6.0 gto motor in it. he said it was almost a drop in!

I'll bet $0.

A "budget" 700HP build invokes classic death trap imagery in my mind.

We already have some safety equipment set aside, the only thing we need is brakes(need the car first), and a roll cage of some sort, but we need a car for that too. We have bucket seats with 4 point harnesses, some fire extinguishers, and we plan on having abs as well as traction control.
