82mm TB - A year of problems!

For more than 10 months I have had the same code return, sometimes it is hours, sometimes days and sometimes weeks but it always comes back.

ODB2 = P0106
STAR = B28 Pressure Sensor - Signal Implausible (or something like that)

Typically it happens on light/med acceleration between 70-85 mph or if crusing for more than 50 mile journeys.

Orignally fitted a EC kit which I think is a non MB TB (has no vent at rear) changed this to a MB part but still the same code!

I have decided to give it one more go and will remove but will refit myself and use all new gaskets and assembling with care.

So how can you help well first what gaskests are needed? have found this from other threads

Gaskets
A273-141-06-80 (Throttle Body)
A113-141-07-80 (Plenum to SC)
A113-098-00-80 (Right Intake)
A113-098-01-80 (Left Intake)
A113 141 09 80 (x2) These are the gaskets which go between the s/c and head.

Is this all of them or are there more needed, I dont need the Y-pipe o ring as I have a Needswings CAI.

Any tips on order or particular things to look out for would be appreciated.

Thanks

I had the same issue when I installed my 82mm Tbody and it was a gasket problem. Make sure you change the gasket under the supercharger A113-141-07-80 and A273-141-06-80 Tbody gasket.

what is your tps % fully warmed up in park and in drive with your foot on the brake? The car wants to see 1.6-2.7 warmed up in drive with the rpms right around 550-600 going from memory.

You might have a leak somewhere from taking the blower off but heck your tps and get back to us.With star you can also adjust your TB for park and drive %

Will need to check tomorrow only had my iPhone app LogWorks with me and it only shows TPS without decimal place so showed

610 rpm and 1% in Drive and 730 rpm and 1% in Park, I am presuming that 1% means more than 1% but less than 2%. Will check with ScanXL which should give me more accurate data.

OK - ran again today up to normal temps then looked with ScanXL Pro for RPM/TPS

Park - average is 730 rpm with 1.6% TPS
Drive - average is 610 rpm with 1.6 % TPS

Does this sound right?

does the car ever see 1.2% or below at all ?if it does it will flag a code,it wants to see 2.0-2.7% warmed up in drive with your foot on the brake.

Check your oil vapor hoses that go under the tb and make sure everything is tight.also what tb do you have? a true MB one or an audi?

I gave up on the 82mm audi/gt3 ones and went with a 80mm amg one and made sure everything was snug.

Check your tb to see on what side the hole is for the vapor hoses also, you want the hole to be behind the blade where there is a lot of vacuum .

I have had two different 82mm TB's on the first was a non MB with the vent the wrong side of the butterfly so after problems swapped to a MB part with the TB under the butterfly. I have changed map sensor, checked all vents are secure, had throttle adaptations reset, chenged tunes and still exactly the same symptom.

I am pretty much at the stage where I give it one more go with a complete refit or swap to an 80mm

the SL55 80m is troble free

82 is way more of a hassle and does comes with drive ability issues every now and then. Not mentioning the fact to revert back is also a head ache if u started to cut away at teh 80mm Ypipe and airbox etc

Did you ever get this TB problem worked out?

Not had time to look at it, car has been put away for winter now and I have been enjoying the holidays to much to venture into the garage.
I hope it's the rubber gasket that sits on the bypass throttle body as after checking the invoice it's not listed so the garage would have reused the old one, I might also just bite the bullet and get the Weistec kit.

Jerry solved my intermittent P0106 / rough idle problem with a new tune. He increased the MAP sensor voltage.
