What do you think?
The huge clock in our instrument cluster is useless, since I have no navigation, I'm thinking of buying the top of the line Magellan, take it apart, put the screen in the instrument cluster (instead of clock) and put controller in the ashtray. How does that sound?
I would have this professionally done of course.

If it's done professionaly and done WELL, i could be really cool, it sure would be one of a kind!!! And yes, that stupid clock is the worst waste of valuable instrument display space i have ever seen, especially on such a high performance car. Anything would be better than that grandfather clock, a combo of water, oil temp...ANYTHING.

I think so too.
One chance, one shot, hope any alterations will enable you to change it back to it’s original state with out any damage from the original parts.

How do most of you guys feel about putting aftermarket nav (such as: alpine, pioneer, etc...) wouldn't that be cheesy? because one was not able to "afford" or obtain the "real oem nav"?
(I know, I know; after market nav has much more features than oem nav, but aside from that, what do you guys think? How do you guys feel about aftermarket nav? )
Note: putting other aftermarket "upgrades" such as engine/performance related is of course not included in this issue, because those options aren't available from the factory to begin with, such as:
-"stiffer" springs/shocks
-superchargers with much more greater power, etc...

em2023,
I think if an aftermarket addition like Nav etc is done properly--where it ties in well with the rest of the interior and has an "OEM look" --it passes the cheese test. By that I mean it does not look like an obvious add on--this may involve some serious fab work--leather,wood, plastic, paint etc. I too am considering putting a nav unit on my car as well as Satellite radio. Currently, I think I will put the Satellite unit in the ashtray---and have the Nav monitor in the passenger visor--room enough for that monitor and the vanity mirror--then have the visor reupholstered. I have been holding off for a little while to see if anything comes up as far as being able to retrofit OEM nav on the car--

JLBMERC & Rave E55,
There is a company that integrates a DVD player, & TV tuner to the current OEM Nav. Unit. The website is: www.nav-tv.com
Let me know what you guys think about it.
