I apologize if this seems like a dumb question, but figured I'd ask since I'm new to the Mercedes world.

When I purchased my car, it came with all the service receipts, and the last service was performed at Evosport. It was oil change, spark plugs, coolant flush, etc, but it also included a Davies Craig Electric Water Pump. I emailed Evosport as well, but just want some forum members opinions, as I always like to know everything I can about the parts on my cars.

Can anyone educate me on this part? I'm assuming it's an electric water pump to replace the factory mechanical one. Or is it an intercooler pump upgrade? Is this a good upgrade? If it's replacing the mechanical water pump, I know it will reduce drag on the motor, but are there any other pros to it? More importantly, what are the cons?

I searched the forum and only found mentions of it in passing, which concerns me, since I figure if it's a good upgrade more people would have it. Since it's from Evosport, I doubt it's a bad part or a downgrade, but I'd just like some info on it. Thanks everyone!

 

Just another brand of I/C pumps. Not replacing your normal engine water pump.
