Why does MB not offer?

Some car companies offer rear pointing video cameras. Does anyone know why MB does not?

Also why does MB not offer run flat tires?

i think parktronic would be better than a camera, with parktronic, its works every time, with a camera, im sure the quality isnt that great, so if you dont see something once, you can hit your car...with parktrnoic you know which side an obstruction is, and how far it is..

If you REALLY needed it, you could have it done aftermarket. I saw one done through an Alpine screen in a Lamborgini (now that car NEEDS a parking assit camera, horrible rear visibility)

Oh they will, look what MB has adopted already. Remember when the put down for Japanese cars were that they had to many gadgets and gizmo's? Now MB is out gizmo-ing the Japanese. Lexus came out with the cool floating gauge needles, now MB has it. Remember the talking car? MB has it. I remember people saying that clear headlight lenses were inferior to fluted ones, but I don't hear that anymore.

I'm not complaining though, I love the gizmos!

Have you seen one of these cameras yet? Curious as to how you know that the quality isn't that great.

i think parktronic is worth the money, especially if you need to get out of parking, or even just getting into your garage....nothing beats front and rear sensors to me.

............You are correct. I have one of these rear view camera's discretly inserted within my license plate. It comes with a discret microphone so no only do you see what is behind you but you can hear it as well. The system is integrated with the Comand in my CLK. Although the night time visibilty is not as good as daytime, it is a very cool gadget. At daytime, it is as crisp as a DVD. At night time the visibilty diminishes depending how much illumination is presented to it but is is still reasonably clear because the camera is specifically designed to work in low light situations. Ublike parktronics, it works even while the car is moving forward so you can use it as toy to see what is behind you while driving forward. You can also hear your exhaust not from your car's interior speakers via the Comand. I agree that it is not NEEDED, but is quite cool.

Anyone know why MB does not offer run flat tires?

Another technology MB seems not to offer yet is night vision windshields. Any reason.

Is there any new gizmo MB offers that others do not?

Where do I get one of these "discreet" camera/microphones? Any particular brand? This sounds like a must-have toy!

Lexus GS 450h
Well, I know with a lil $$ and a good tech, if u have NAV, u can add the review camera to ANY Lexus with NAV. Now the LS 430 and the RX 330 offer is from the factory.

I am SURE u can add it to a Benz with NAV.

Why doesn't MB offer:

display for current weather conditions at destinations on route

paint which will change color at the click of a remote control

sound system with vibrasonic source within the seats

choice of colors for interior lights

aroma dispenser with array of smells (and disco ball)

front seats which automatically spin to turn you to the open door

windows which tint to driver request and sun conditions

microwave, refrigerator and sink

AMG55, those are excellent and very imaginative ideas. I do hope someone from MB is lurking. If not, perhaps you can directly contact MB.

The questions I was asking about video, night vision and run flat tires are much more pedestrian and I was wondering why MB does not offer them when many others do or soon will.
