Removing trunk lining - cargo tie downs?

I was removing the trunk lining to access the tail lights and feel like I'm missing something. The 2 cargo tie down rings at the front and back bottom of the side liners - I never see these mentioned when people are accessing the tail lights, but I could not get the liner over them. Is there a trick to getting the liner over them, or do I need to go get a star bit and remove them? None of the torx bits I have were a perfect fit.

Thanks!

They will need to be removed. Those hold the cargo liner in place, as well as I believe 2 or 3 fasteners. Then it will shimmy out, don't forget the ring around the arm on the trunk lid, it breaks easily if you don't remove it properly.
