Best technique to clean brake calipers?
Good afternoon,
I would like to clean up the calipers on my E63 as they have a thick coat of brake dust on them... Is brake cleaner in a can safe to use? I dont want to harm the silver paint or the AMG logo on them...
Whats the safest, and easiest way to clean them up and make them look new again!?
Was thinking toothbrush and soapy water, but is there a cleaning product better suited to the task?
Heres the sad state they are in at the moment:
Thanks!

Man, you already got the wheel off just go ahead and scrub it with something! lol
The annoying part is when washing your car you're trying to get the brake dust cleaned but the rim is preventing you from getting to a few spots (stock wheels). E63 is probably better with that, but E55 has more spokes on the rims.

This is my first car with nice painted/ logo calipers so I have never ventured into the world of brake cleaning... My old M3 just had ugly metal calipers

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
Simple Green in a spray bottle with a large bottle brush. I also pull a medium towel between the spokes of the wheel to get the face if clearance is an issue like it is with my wheels. Then rinse.

I use foaming brake cleaner and a bristle brush. Then some high powered water spray like the "jet" on a hose nozzle. Then I use q tips on hard to reach areas, rinse and blow off with compressed air. Works good for me.
