Anybody here deleted the EGR set up?

I was thinking of removing my EGR system to clean up the engine bay and because my county does not perform emissions testing. I know I would need a tune for the CEL and higher combustion temps, but has anybody done it?

I have seen a few post and pics a while back, do not recall who posted those. Did clean things up a lot.

Sorry for being such a gravedigger but could somebody please explain the topic of higher combustion temps in relation to EGR delete in M113K?
Will the combustion temps be higher or lower? Will they change if there's no EGR cooling in this particular engine?

The E55 doesn't have an EGR system. EGR systems direct (noncombustable) exhaust into the intake air, effectively displacing combustible oxygen making your over all combustion chamber mixture a little more rich. That is where the cooling affect comes from. The E55 does have secondary air injection which is probably what they were actually talking about deleting. Secondary air injection injects outside air into the exhaust to allow unburnt fuels to burn, reducing emissions. Has no effect on combustion chamber, or performance.

Thanks for a quick response. I actually think about those two vacuum actuated valves on top of the heads in the front of the engine. Just by the supercharcher

Yeah those are the secondary air injection valves. Only real reason to delete is if you want to for looks, or if a component breaks and you dont want to replace it. You need to code it out via STAR or you will get a check engine light though. People sell block off plates for them, or you can tap it with a 3/8 NPT tap(I think, I'll have to double check) and put a plug in it. That's what I did.

Awwkay... I thought that SAI is the little vacuum cleaner under the front bumper which I already deleted to get some space.

So... I need to investigate that system a bit more , but for now... please correct me if I'm wrong.

- SAI injects outside air into the intake manifold so it actually makes the mixture lean in opposite to EGR.
- Deleting it will make the mixture rich and do it only during cold starts.
- I can delete those two valves (if I did delete the mattress pump already), as they have no function now

Thanks a lot for the help.

Time to do the work. Staino block off plates are waiting to be on their place

We offer anodized billet blockoff plates with countersunk hardware for those that don't want to DIY as well.

You'll need a Dev mode SDS unit that's unlocked.

1. Select your car
2. Go to Control Units
3. Go to Drive
4. Go to MESFI 2.8
5. Go to Development Data
6. Go to Control Unit Adaptations
7. Go to Control Unit Adaptations(Variant Coding)
8. Go to Implizite Kodierung ME281 AMG C6-Stand

For EGR scroll down to 0176 and change Diagnose ein to Diagnose aus

For Secondary Air Injection scroll down to 0178 and change Diagnose ein Diagnose aus

For Post Cat 02 sensors scroll down to 0182 and change Diagnose ein Diagnose aus

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

UNLOCK ME 2,8 SFI
control unit groups
drive
ME 2,8 SFI
development data
actuations
complete index of actuations
steuergerät entriegeln -> confirm (In English: ECU unlock for programming))
then apply variant coding while engine is still running.

??????????????????????????????????????
also set code 242 Abgas - Code, max. Einschaltdauer Sekundaerluftpumpe to unbelegt (means unused)
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
For the V12TT there are the numeric code you have to look out for
Secondary air injection code is 0235
Rear 02 code is 0239
Speed limit deactivation code is 0281

im following these steps, including unlocking ecu with actuations menu. However when I go to apply the variant coding with engine running on my supercharged e500, I get a communication error

I had error during entering menue where all those codes sit, so I came in other menue to read current settings and it unlocked settings for me... There's a missing step where you need to unlock ecu for recording. Or maybe unlock is there ... Use Google translate to understand: drive2(dot)ru/l/6440785/
guy will explain with pics what and where and how. (dot) = .
