Nav disc upgrade lead to blank screen :/

Nav disc upgrade lead to blank screen :/
So I inserted the 2012 nav update disc and I have the 2005.1 version and now with the new one installed I get a blank screen when I'm on the maps. All you see is the arrow representing the vehicle with a circle around it and everything else around it black.
I decided to insert the original back in and now have the same problem with that as well. Any ideas on what's going on?

I believe that you will need the service update disc for both the nav and the comand units...

Thanks all helpful info. Ill wait it out a bit I guess. Considering the original cd is doing the same thing I'm hoping it just a little time for satellite connection

i also have a navigation question-
my car is a 03' and imported to HK from the UK.
it has the sound system with tape cassete+CD+ CD changer and navigation of course.
problem is that when i turn on NAV it ask me to insert navigation CD (which i dont have).
from what i understand since my car is imported than Mercedes Hong Kong cannot activate my NAV system, however, is there a way i can still make my NAV work?
i really want it to work.
