CL55 A/C Pulley Replacement
I know you guys all I have E's but the CL part of the forum is dead. All the tech guys are in the E section.
I have a loud pulley some where. I pulled the S/C belt and noise still happened. I pulled the serpentine belt and spun all of the idlers. It sounded like it was coming from the A/C pulley with the car running. When I spun the idlers everything felt fine. All of the accessories also felt good.
I did notice a small amount of in and out play on the ABC pump pulley and the water pump sounded funny when it was spun backwards. I will be putting a stethoscope on the car tomorrow to figure out for sure.
The noise is coming from the lower corner of the engine on the driver side. Its either the tensioner pulley, ABC pump, or hopefully the A/C pulley.
Has anyone one experienced anything similar? My noise is only really noticeable at idle. It sounds like a bearing is failing. The car has made some noise for quite some time. It sounds the same regardless of what accessories are running. (ABC pump activated/AC running) I know the A/C compressor is always spinning.
Any input is appreciated.

We use shorter belt that bypasses the ac pulley to eliminate it from spinning. If the noise is gone it's the culprit. I don't know the part number or which belt it is for the CL though.

Ya. I work for a shop, and saw that in ALLDATA. I have the part number. That is really what I need. Even though I know some of the people at the dealer it seems I still get reemed pretty good. Maybe my warranty buddy there can snag the belt for me.

I'll post back tomorrow with results. I do really wish I had that short belt to be 100 percent. I have a few sets of ears on it tomorrow.

After spending a little more time on the car I sprayed some lubricant on the serpentine tensioner pulley and the sound went away completely. Spinning the pulley with no belt gives me no indication of the bearing being bad. I'm going to keep an eye on it. I can get a replacement locally for $136.00. Shardul thank you for the offer though.
