confirming my e55 hella relay.

Ready to order for preventive...all the talk of part numbers and all...I just want to make sure I am getting the correct relay for my 06 e55. Buying from this link unless someone has a better one that's easy..

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=170986459559

Thanks

Ps. All the talk about airmatic behavior. Should I hear a buzzing or pump at when turning the car off? Forget about whether it should drop a little when off, that's up for debate.

I just replaced the one on mine as a preemptive strike to aid my airmatic compressor life.

This one after ordered came in about a day.

I didnt hear my pump running after I turned off the car until my airmatic relay started going bad. That ended up frying my pump. I would change it out just in case. Cheap insurance so you don't have to buy a new pump like I did. This was a hella relay that was bad, not the old tyco one.

What? A bad hella? I thought that was the fix one that saves it, solid. Maybe I shouldn't change mine to hella and leave mine alone.

I need to listen carefully in the next few days. If I don't hear anything on shut down, I may leave it.

Also, thanks for info on buying. I called two dealerships and they both said they had the part. $20.00 and it was the updated one, not the one that came with it (Tyco?). Well decided to be safe. Bought it and it has Mercedes logo/name on box. And, it says hella on the unit itself.

Any ideas welcome but for the next couple if days I will listen carefully. Maybe then put it in, and keep listening to make sure its a good hella and not a bad one. I suppose we all should always be aware and listen after shutdown. But you said you never heard the pump keep on running.. hmmmmm..

Anyone everything try to wire it to the ignition, so it has to shut off when the car does?

Thanks again for all the info.

For the record the relay pulled out of my 06 was a Hella brand and the new one a Hella branded relay as well. Same part number stamped on the front. I don't think Hella vs. Tyco is going to make a difference...IMHO.

ok. I will just keep an eye on it. I can't imagine losing my suspension over a stupid 22.00 dollar part (tyco or hella). I guess I will listen real carefully when shutting down and hope for the best, for now.

The one I got from mercedes (they said updated) looks like this: part 002 542 7219

http://thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/m/mnNf...bNXSDw/140.jpg

I found the following link and it has the one above and 002-542-1319

http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...nation%20Relay

Do I need to get that one too (1319)?

any other thoughts always welcome.

thanks

Ps. Question: Does using the ride height button allot OR changing from Comfort ride, Sport 1, sport 2 have any affect on how long before there is an airmatic problem? I find myself a little reluctant to change it much. I usually ride around in sport 1. Any one of them better or worse for it?

Looks like the one I have it good?

Last ? on this, I thought the air relay "O" was under the hood. But now I heard it behind the passenger side trunk panel?

Guess I am to unfasten the panel and check it out... any info appreciated.

Thanks
