Took the car out of storage and its got a really heavy steering feel,I know it might be in my head from driving a Honda for the winter but I think its not normal.

on cold start sometimes it feel ok and 5 seconds later feels heavy and kinda has small studder binding in the wheel when turning it slowly while driving. After the car fully warms up it feel a lot better but still feels harder to turn.

Fluid is full and I know there is a sensor on the rack so not sure if that is causing it or a weak pump.

any ideas?

IM think either a weak pump, rack sensor, the u joint or what ever its called in the steering pole connecting to the rack or the rack it self.

I have a similar problem. Ever since my PS pump blew up my car has never been the same. Steering is mostly heavier than normal but sometimes loosens and gets harder randomly. I've even wondered if a reman rack will fix my problem.

my pump is not making any noises and Im now thinking its the electric motor on the rack or the joint in the steering column that comes from the steering wheel. Those would gunk up on bmws but they had 2 hard binds in the wheel when turning and did not act different all the time.

Idk we are looking at mine tom,I thought there was a sensor/motor on the rack that adjusts with wheel speed to tighten up the steering when driving over 70

I drove a brand new CLS today and its steering is 10x smoother then mine.my car feels like my old m3 and I actually like it thus way lol.

Off topic but the stereo in the CLS blows the living hell out of our cars.it makes our sound like something from a 1970 nova

Unreal how ****ty our systems sound!

Our system sounds fantastic compared to most OEM systems, but the newer models have far better components.

Let me know what you find out about the rack.
