Please educate me
Hey guys,
Just recently sold my 06 C55 and in the market for a replacement car. I have been looking at C63s but upon cross shopping with E63s, the E63s seem to be going for a lot cheaper. Any reason why the C63 is holding its value better?
Also, I had a W210 E55 in the past and loved it. What's the W211 E63 like?
Lastly, can you give me a quick price check on this: 07 E63, 46K miles, PI, PII and designo. What's a good price?
I realize I can search for some of this info, so please dont' get mad. I want a fresh perspective rather than dig up threads that are old. Thanks a lot,

- Any known mechanical gotchas? Valve cover leaks? Air suspension issues? Pano roof? etc.
- What's the turning radius like? The c55 was so awesome as a no-drama everyday car. What's the E like?

E55 wagon, Porsche 550 replica
Since you are cross shopping with a C63 I'll assume you mean the naturally aspirated E63 and not the biturbo. In this case I would say the C63 holds value because it is still a current model and the NA E63 is depreciating faster in comparison because is has been surpassed by the newer biturbo model. Once the C63 is replaced with a newer model the prices its prices will drop as well.

Too old, and since I don't mod my cars, the supercharged engine is more trouble than it's worth to me.
Aah, that makes sense. I would love to get a C63, but if the E is much better value, I may have to go with that instead.
Any thoughts on price guys?

Additionally I feel the 6.2 NA engine is better suited for the small C class than the heavier E.
Many enthusiasts would prefer the E55 or the newer turbo E63 if the budget permitted. This takes buyers out of the W211 E63 market and drives price down.
I think mile-to-mile, the 07-09 E63 will eventually be worth the same, then less than clean low mile 05-06 E55s.

Thanks for the thoughts guys. While I appreciate the objective feedback, I'm not interested in the old e55. It's not just the power the engine makes, it's about chassis updates, electronics updates, suspension tuning and other features as well, where going back to an old platform just doesn't make sense to me. Besides, the 6.2 is supposed to be a peach of an engine (if they still put it in the sls it must be good) so I'd like to experience that.
I don't mind the relatively lower desirability of the 6.2 e63 - means great deals to be had for a buyer. Back to my original question, what's a good price for a well equipped 07/08 under 45-50k miles? I know it's going to differ per the actual car but looking for ballpark values for what's a smokin deal and what's overpriced.
Thanks again.
