Engine and Brake Noise

Hi guys, I just got my 03' E55 today! This is the first time I own an AMG car. I notice a few problems while driving, hope you guys can help me out!

Engine noise: I can hear tapping sound at idle, normal for 55?
Brake noise: I can both hear and "feel" the buzzing noise when I apply the brake, it happened about 3 times within a 30min drive.
Steering Wheel: The steering wheel mysteriously makes a"tick" sound when I'm driving straight down the road(very very slight adjustment, weird!)

Everything else is great, the car looks great, and it certainly drives geat! I will post some pics tmr.

Sorry about my BAD english!
Thanks in advance~

To be honest, I have no clue if any of those problems are normal since I dont have my car yet (however, I havent heard any other owners mention those problems), but I did want to tell you that your car looks beautiful!

Congrats on the car,

I too have noticed a slight tapping sound at idle--told it is normal (dealer)---I also have occasionally noticed what you have with the brakes--but none of this is really bothers me--very subtle things. I have not noticed the steering wheel symptoms you described. I have 1600 miles now and have enjoyed all of them---everything has worked wonderfully. I really don't even pay attention to these little noises now---full throttle acceleration is a wonderful remedy. Probably the noisiest thing is the Keyless Go feature--which has worked great---I really like it. It makes various noises when I approach the car and open the door---but it is all part of the function. Again, congrats on the car and go have some fun.

congrats on your car, looks beauitful. the slight ticking noise at idle is supposed to be there. the brakes do that, i believe it just builds up pressure or something, its like a buzzing sound, and a vibration from the brakes, if your just in park, and start pressing the brakes over and over, you will get the same outcome. idont know what type of ticking noise the steering makes, i would ask the dealer to find out though, GL

ZHH, thank you! hope you get yours soon!!

JLBMERC, I think it's because the car is new, I can't stop paying attention to all these different "sounds" coming out of my car:p I also noticed the noise that keyless go makes...oh well, I guess I need to put them behind and start enjoying the car!

bmms8, it seems like every E-class has the same problems. Brakes, Audio Gateway, Keyless Go, Nav+Arimatic... Now the buzzing and vibration on my brakes are gone(???) Instead, I have a loud tick noise everytime I press on the brake pedal, very annoying when driving in city. Let's hope mercedes will the fixes soon!
