tranny when out on my car and its setting at dealership (since its 1 mile from my house and work and happened on way to work)....

Does anyone have a used working tranny sitting around for 06 e55? i know a few on here had some spare trannys at one point so though i would check here first since dealership wants about $5K for remanufactured 24 month warrantied tranny.

 

Well what made it go out? Launch?

 

I have one in classifieds, put up yesterday from an 04 with 83k on it. I have someone interested that has a guy local to pick it up but he hasn't committed yet. He was going to check with his friend so it could be sold soon or could not.

I am driving from south FL to north FL right now so sorry if my responses to any questions aren't to quick.

 

The place here in pompano, where I got mine, has a reman w/1 year warranty for $2500

I'll see if I still have his number.

not sure... there is lots of debris when they dropped the pan... all i was doing was trying to pass someone and at like 1/4 throttle

 

How do you know if the tranny really went out on your car?
Is the dealer honest?
How do you know if its not in limp mode

i scanned it for limp mode on my handheld, plus it did not lock into a gear like limp mode does.... it really felt like clutch plates werent grabbing or something...

plus the debris in the pan was pretty bad when they showed me...

i wish it was something simple as i am pretty decently mechanically inclined and could do it myself

perfect timing too as i am jumping on a plane to dominican rep in 4 hrs for the weekend... guess i will have more reasons to drink lots of rum while i am there

 

My transmission also has a torque converter included, didn't mention that in my ad.

OP - how many miles on your car/tranny before it went out? Do you track etc.?

Reason I ask because these cars seem to have solid trans. Just curious ...

Pretty much the 722.6 transmission was used in every single mercedes benz car up until the 7G came out. The AMG is slightly different but they are pertty much bulletproof. At one time the transmission was sealed for life (needing no maintenance) in the previous generation E class.

105k miles with pulley, lt headers, custom tune for 70k of those miles... I drive pretty hard pretty much all the time hence my driving record lol

Still no 100% what happened but trq converter is toast... Internals of the trans are unknown yet...

 

I bought David's trans, so if you want mine broken one, since you said you are gonna rebuild one,u can have it for free... You would just need to arrange shipping from the dealership up here down to you

 

Do you manually shift via the steering wheel??

I purchased a rebuilt transmission/converter wholesale from Silver Star Transmission (an exclusively Mercedes-Benz remanufacturer) for my 1999 C43. They shipped it FedEx Freight with Synthetic fluid in a bottle in the crate. I put my old cores in the crate, and they scheduled the FedEx pickup. I was pleased with the transaction.
Shortly before, I had a rebuilt two-post asymmetric lift installed in my 12'+ ceiling garage for $1800, and still saved $3000 from what the stealership wanted.

 

got used tranny in and upgraded torq converter from level 10 transmissions and all is good now.... the upgraded level 10 Trq converter definitely puts the power from engine to the wheels a lot better then the pervious stock trq converter....

after the swap i started wondering how much do our stock trq converters limit the power we can put down?... i think for all the guys with 500+ hp to the wheels the stock trq converter is slipping a decent amt because with the new upgraged trq converter when i stomp on the gas now it definitely pulls a lot harder with more instant power transfer

Is that pull from the higher stall TQ linear or does it level off versus the stock tq? In other words, is there a sacrifice in high end power or in the higher rpms from the higher stall TQ?
