Is there a DIY on how to replace the rear hatch gas struts?

I have an E55 Estate and the rear hatch / trunk / tailgate no longer stays up by itself. I've replaced trunk supports on most other cars I have at some point, but the struts for this car seem to be burried inside a tunnel between the roof and the interior liner or something.

I honestly don't know how I'm going to get in there. Now granted, I only spent a few minutes looking at it and didn't take anything apart. I figured I'd look for a DIY guide before I broke a trim clip or something stupid.

Anybody? Any help?
