torq conv?

How much difference does a performance torq conv do?. Just got kleeman headers from jerry. Getting them ceramic coated. Getting anti belt and intake spacers installed tomorrow. Have ec sc pulley, ttm scoops,82 mm benz t body, wavetrac posi, ttm fuelrail,ec software, splitting cooling next weekend,
he,big pump,
What to do next ported heads or torq converter?? do pipes and air cleaners help?

I would do ported head. after reading on forums it looks like people cut 1.6 all the way down to a 1.4 60' on stock converter. You would benefit way more with a true lsd.

those are also cars with alot of hp cutting those times. night and day difference with a strong lock up converter. It basically will allow you to use the horsepower that you have on tap and a stock conv in no way can do that.

^ I read your thread when you got your converter done. any track times? I would assume with a higher stall converter and no lsd would be pointless for launching purposes. and many people spin tires effortlessly off the line with stock converter on a 1500rpm launch, so don't see the point in launching higher than that. would much rather daily drive with a stock converter also. when swapping in a converter you will really notice the difference trying to limp up a hill. your trans will want to downshift more often to get into power band, obviously leads to more fuel consumption also.

I just put in a 3000K stall into my sled (same one as 99lightning) and it is a night and day difference. It drives almost like stock in and around town, but when you squeeze into it, it is teeth shattering. You can also load the converter up much higher from a stop before it start pushing you through the brakes too. I can get killer deals on them if interested.

i was unable to get to the track and at my power level doubt traction will be a issue. I can surely deal with extral fuel consumption vs having my car feel like a pig lugging around and once you do a 2nd gear roll on a stock pulley car and burn the tires down the street it makes it all worth it. Not to mention now it feels like something in 3rd gear when you feel that clutch lock up. I will get track times in the fall.

If u will install 82ttm TB, then don't install the spacers of SC now, wait till you do that part, coz you will have to take out the SC to put the spacers, so, you will open it now for the spacer and then again you will open it once again for the 82mm TB !!!! double work, double cost.

I am saying something makes sense or I have missed something ?!!!
