Loose E55 on freeway.

I'm riding in the car with my friend driving his 05 E55 I noticed that the car feels like it's very loose at around 70 mph. When I ask him about it he says that used to be worse with his factory wheels he now has 19 inch with 275's in the rear and two 245s in the front. Anybody have an idea of what is causing that?

No clue. My 05 E55 is on factory wheels and feels planted and sedate well beyond 120mph.

bad ball joints will make the car feel squirrelly. That happened to me when my lower bj were bad. Could feel in the steering it was getting loose. Once replaced, car got back to normal.

You determined "looseness" from the passenger seat. In all seriousness it shazn't be so loose.

yes i could feel it as a passenger. quite noticeable and thats why i know its not normal. I've driven the car before as well as being a passenger and dont remember it being that way. he told me today that yesterday when he got his new tires they installed one of them wrong. maybe that was it?

This place is a joke.
Check tire pressure, brand of tire, and condition..Also, the alignment is critical.

Installed wrong as in a directional tire facing backwards? If so, then he could be fighting a pull to one side?

You are correct, it was pulling to the left pretty good. I'll find out tomorrow if correcting the wrongly installed tire was causing the "loose" effect.

If it has too much toe out it will wonder all over. Also. Check the control arm and rear sub frame bushings. The bushings on the rear subframe of my c43 were shot and under boost the subframe would shift back and forth causing unintended rear steering . It can be a list of things from tires, alignment or worn suspension components.
