spray paint is cheap but can be a little messy and should tape off the bleeders/ hardware/ rotor ect. powder coat would be a really nice finish but need to drain and may need disassemble the pistons and rubber stuff. not totally sure.

Either way can look really nice imo!!

$1000 Painted and Installed is roughly what I paid. I had it professionally done, however I would not recommend the vendor because of shipping issues and delays. Thats me dropping off the car and the shop taking off wheels and calipers, then sending out calipers to be fully disassembled and shop putting everything back together. The price was fair for me.

You paid a grand to paint some calipers? It doesn't cost that much to do wheels at the most reputable, highly recommended shop around town.

Do you have money to burn? If so, send it to me.

My time is valuable and I am not interested in playing games with a 100k car and potentially ruining $2k calipers. The shop that did the work taught me something valuable about why I don't handle these things. They ended up covering the part that failed and it was thousands of dollars. So it was $1k well spent.

My powder coated wheels were $500 for 4.

What are you talking about? There are a handful of shops around here that'll do it for a fraction of the price and they work cars far more valuable than mine or yours.

Anybody paying $1,000 for a set of calipers powdercoated is either a) rich and doesn't care, or b) clueless.

$600 to have it done. That is with the AMG stickers and the caliper rebuild kits. IMO the right way to do it. Price range will very by powdercoating shop. Be sure to look at some of their work. Not all shops are quality.

And I'm in downtown DC and pas6201 is in NoVA, what's your point?

You said a grand not $800, and pasc6201 got his for $600 with the rebuild kits ... $400 difference isn't little, that's another set of powdercoated rims you could've had.

You guys wouldnt believe, but I did receive a quote for $2000 including r/r, caliper rebuild kits. I believe they quoted so high because they arent interested in doing the work.

I said "roughly $1000" to be exact. I dont know why I post on this forum. Mine were professionally done and ripped apart with all new gaskets. Price was fair for me and I got a new $4k part out of it so do as you please. Done with this post.

That's just ridiculous. And you're right, they likely don't want anything to do with it, hence the jacked up price.

I don't understand that. Why not just say you don't feel comfortable doing the job instead of potentially ruining your rep by overcharging?

^ no offense but it definitely seems like you could have spent a little more time taping off the critical components. I'm looking for a job in between above, and the 1000 dollar job.

How is the paint holding up? How long have you been running the painted setup?

They look like day one.. plus with akebono pads always shiny, the dust washes right off if there is any. I used some high performance high heat clear so as you can see the quality on both the yellow and green calipers that I did...

if you choose not to be "done" with this post, do you mind posting some unedited pics of your car in the current condition? interested to see how it looks with powdercoated black factory wheels and red calipers. thanks. this is still a forum, and you chose to be on it
