Looking for E55 AMG
Hello everyone I'm new to this forum and to the Mercedes world owned Mustangs, BMW's. But now I'm interested in The E55 AMG. herd many good things about this beast and now I'm hooked. Well my question what are these cars going for? I've seen some go for 32,000 with 30k miles, and I've seen some go for 24000 with over 68k miles.

There are two 05s for sale that are excellent cars in this section right now, just look for the threads. You won't go wrong picking up either.
One is I believe ~$27K with 58K miles and the other around ~$32K for 6100 miles! Yes, 6100 miles. Both worth the money as they are exceptional examples.

Whatever you do, have a pre-purchase inspection done at an MB dealership or a trusted and certified indy. Request to take a look at the VMI (they usually won't give you a copy, but you can study it), this will tell you any previous work or service that has been done by authorized MB mechanics. There are a lot of systems that can go wrong and be very costly to fix. on these vehicles and unless you yourself are an MB tech, you will have a hard time checking out all of the things they check in a PPI yourself.

Thanks everyone for your input its helped me alot. I found one at a dealer with 30,004 miles on it. one owner, clean car fax, i believe all options other than panoramic roof.It just went through a dealer inpection top to bottom. there asking 31,900. is this good price? and i do need financing so i may go this route.

What year is it? Sounds like 03-early 05 ... the late 05s and 06s with that sort of mileage from a dealer selling the car would be listed for a few grand more I'd say ...

It's an 05 but not sure if its a late model or early one. suggested retail 37k. what they had posted it was marked down for 4th of july.

Does it have the sliding center console or open clam center? That will be the indicator whether it's an early build or late and will impact price point. Then again, most dealers are clueless and just want to move cars.

Then if they listed it for $31,900 you can likely argue it down closer to $30K (at least if you're paying half of it in cash or financing all of it, which will make things very difficult or it won't work) and that is a steal if the car is clean inside out and has been maintained WELL with all service records through an MB dealership.

Thanks ArmoE55. so is it early or late model? I was going to low ball-em to like 29k and see if they bite. I don't think i'll have a problem financing it if I put 5k down. got an 800 credit score this could help.

def get a PPI before buying. Things to look for:
leaking valve cover gaskets
leaking rear main seal
airmatic shocks
Also, mine was listed for $29k at dealer and i ended up getting it for $25k + Title, tags, tax at the end of the month, so they wanted to make a sale.
