I'm afraid to pull the trigger on 19" wheels. Ride quality concerns. Talk to me!

I've had a set of 19" wheels in my cart for a week and I'm afraid to pull the trigger.

How much harsher are 19s compared to stock 18s?

18s look too small on these cars, but I'm over 40 so a smooth ride is important.

Thanks

Go for it, you wont regret it. Your right 18s are too small on these cars. 19s is the perfect size. Just be cautious of potholes when driving and youll be fine.

I just put a set of 19's on mine last week. Running 255/35 & 285/30 tyres. Ride is harsher than the 18's as expected but mine is a daily driver and so far I have done around 700kms ( approx 440 miles ) in the last week and in comfort suspension mode the ride is still quite acceptable.

Daily driver with 19's here. Perfect in my opinion.

Although the ride get's a little harsher going from 18" to 19" it isn't that bad. Tires are going to be an important factor, the meatier the tires the better it is for your ride quality, if you get low profile tires then the ride difference is going to be big.

What wheels were you looking at purchasing?

It really does depend on the wheels and tire size. I have 19's with 255/35 on 8.5" rim and 285/30 on 9.5" rim. No complaints only compliments.

don't worry

You will not notice any difference as long as you go with the stock specs tires: 245/35 front and 275/30 rear. It will get harsh with 20 inch wheels, but 19s are perfect fit for our cars! I am 53, by the way! S*&T!

Actually, I need to update my sig. That's my e500 with 18" wheels from OEWheelsllc. 245/40/18 Conti DWS all around. Rides great.

+1 Any difference in ride quality from running the larger diameter wheels is hardly noticeable as long as you're running enough tire on them IMO. Good luck.

FWIW, I'm running ST181's with those sizes. The ride is not bad at all. Its certainly a little more harsh compared to the 18's. But the car looks so much better and its still totally acceptable ride quality wise for daily use.

What airmatic setting do you normally use?

Comfort and Sport I feel pretty good to me on 18s, but Sport II gets too harsh. Which is fine because that's the way it's designed.

Would it be fair to say that Sport I on 19s is = Sport II on 18s?

(Edit) Also, SHOW ME SOME PICS!

Thanks

I use comfort 90% of the time, other 10% is sport I.

Sport II no matter the wheel size is too harsh.

I wouldn't even say comfort + 19's = sport I on 18's. Its not even that big of a difference. Its not a big change at all.
