How did they mount it? Jerry-rig zipties, JB Weld or dangerous drilling into the bottom of the HE?

I'll zip tie it somewhere if need be. Either that or I'll bolt it behind a fog light and rig up a scoop to deflect air. Depends on how much room there is.

Because I'm a ricer like that.

The only problem with that is the fixed aluminum lines going to the cooler. Unless you recreate your own lines, then your range of movement is limited.

After looking at this heat exchanger in person, I'm not a big fan of its design.

I may be looking to sell it and buy another product.

I'm not a huge fan of the core selection. Let's just say I used to do some marketing work for Spearco (as well as running their product) and got spoiled by their bar and plate wave cores. It did kind of annoy me as well that I could see the jagged trim on the fins at the edges. Looked a bit sloppy, although not noticeably until you looked into it from the exact angle.

Probably just being picky. This one obviously works great for most on the forums here.

The HE's and cores themselves are all made by C&R racing....the same people that make the radiators for Nascar...

Yes, I haven't received mine yet either. Thought it was the UPS package yesterday, but it was for my wife. Sorry, Jerry, mine hasn't arrived yet.

Any idea on tracking? I'm hoping today as UPS doesn't do delivers until 6ish Eastern time. Maybe today?

Tracking # would be awesome..

Hmm, you have the expertise background, but the results were there for me. It's an awesome HE, trust me. I installed it on my previous car, IATs dropped noticeably, and even more so coupled with the aftermarket IC pump.

HeissRod-
I honestly do not remember how they did it. I had my Indy do it. It definitely was not zip ties, I can tell you that much.

Once I get my HE and take it for install, I'll document for you and let you know how they did it. It was a professional job, I remember as much. Not some ghetto fab.

That would explain why they used a radiator core as opposed to an intercooler core.

I don't feel like this one would be durable enough to run without the protection of the factory grill. I also don't see may car as a race car, so I'll admit it's also a matter of aesthetics for me (see sig).

Oh, and the Nascar pitch does nothing for me. I live 30 minutes from Daytona speedway and still think Nascar sucks.

tough crowd. The EC heat exchanger works fine for me for the past year that its been on the car. Def an improvement over the OEM one. Let us know what HE you end up getting and if its better quality and cost xxx above this EC one.

I unfortunately will have to bow out of the buy. Repairs on the Cadillac became to high to make a purchase for my toy. Thanks and good luck to all of you on the buy and installs!

Okay, so I went ahead and just installed the heat exchanger and it turned out looking pretty darn good. So far so good with performance, as well. I bled the system and got it nice and hot, went out and ran a few runs, and it pulled hard.

Oh, and I already had the Bosch 010 that was installed a year ago.

- I polished the end caps by hand with mother's aluminum polish. They looked even better after the polish.
- I have an E63 front conversion with the actual E63 brackets in it. I had to do quite a bit of trimming to the brackets, padding, and the plastic pieces on the sides of the front grille. Trimmed those to just a hair over 30" wide and it shows nicely in the front opening.
- While installing the H/E, I did my own radiator flush with MB coolant and water. The old stuff was nasty.
- Bleeding the coolant went along pretty easily and the bubbles came out within just a few minutes of bleeding. I may try bleeding it again after a day or two just to make sure.
- This bumper is a pain to add/remove and I had to put it back on by myself... used some old wheel boxes to prop it up while I aligned the brackets.

Thanks again for the help Eurocharged, apologies for all the doubt but in the end I'm satisfied with the results.

Teaser phone pic with my helper. Will post better DSLR ones after I get my brakes and wheels back from the powder coater:
