Race Gas in E55, ECU adaption time? Going to race tomorrow, Racers come on in!

Been awhile since I ran my car at the track. I can't remember when I added race gas into my car to let the ECU adapt. Been awhile since I raced my car or any for that matter. Besides showing a R8 V10 what time it is from 60-130

I picked up some MS109 nearby and wondering if you should run straight no mixing. As its says its a solid replacement for pump gas street vehicles running low to moderate boost.

Or should I mix it 50 -50 with pump gas. Im pretty sure I poured it straight into my car and ran it last time. Any thoughts or advice appreciated I'm going to the track tomorrow night!

Run it straight brotha, and try and reset the adaptions through STAR DAS if you can. It will make a difference and be safe.

I disagree, but that's me.

Your gonna loose power running it MS109 straight without tune. I lost power running Q16 on m 93oct tune. But I have never run MS109, so what do I know?

Q16 is a very heavy racing fuel. It would richen your motor for no reason. I can see why it didnt work.

What ever you do, run it on the way there and give it a few good pulls so that it can adapt.
I thought Cali had lower oct than us with no emissions. We still have 100oct on pump.
Good Luck!

if you dont have star, get the gas tank as low as possible, fill with 2 gal of pump and 2 gal of ms109, drive the car hard let it adapt. then go back and put the rest of the MS109 in the tank.

If you have star do what Craig said.

You wouldn't see the true benefit of running a higher octane fuel without tuning for it IMO.

If i was going to run it though, i would run the tank as low as possible and then put in whatever fuel i wanted. Good luck.

Sweet, thanks guys. Ive ran it before on all my cars and it does pickup power. NA, if you have high compression, boosted for sure. You never know how good the fuel is in your car. So bumping the octane helps add power.

But, there is a big BUT... Im talking about using specially formulated unleaded race gas, Meant to be a substitute or enhancement for pump gas on high compression cars and med boost street cars. If you do what RB JUNKY did before for example is worst case scenario.. Sorry RB no disrespect. :-P

Heavy leaded race gas meant for high boost tuned vehicles will richen your car up too much and actually slow it down substantially. I tried the same thing as RB Junky many years ago and lost a race because of it. Lesson learned.

The MS109 is a great fuel but, it cost's a lot!! Ouch!! Might be time for some methanol.

Whether it's leaded or not doesn't MS109 have a lower stoich point, I think mid 13's right whereas regular pump gas is 14.7? I would think you should have the tune set for this to gain power and be safe, a normal tune would have you lean I believe although I am no expert

This is correct. If you are running 11.5 AFR at WOT, with pure MS109 it will go to and equivalent of 12.4... Watch out if you are not tuned for it or else mix it. It makes very good power if you are tuned for it. Based on my own and Jerry from EC's experience, you can get close to 40hp's from it with an optimized tune. Use the VP street blaze or if you can find it the Shell URT Advanced if you don't want to have to tune the AFR.

Takes about 5-10 miles to adapt, w/out tuning for ms109 you should see 10-15 hp
