ignition/lock reprograming
Hi, Im new here, just bought a 2005 E55, and am just looking at doing a few things/ firstly the owner only had one key to the car. I know I can get a fob and have it reprogrammed. Im going to be living in the same area as the seller and wanted to know if there is any way I can have the car "re coded" and have new keys made, so even if he kept the second key it will not work... I have searched the forum, but was unable to find what I was looking for
thx, this is a great resource, that I have been following for 2 yrs prior to my purchase

There is no way to reprogram the fob that I am aware of or recode the current immobilizer. But I believe you can disable the other key from having access using DAS.

This place is a joke.
The dealership will need your car to see which key tracks were used in the past, and you will have to buy new "additional" key(s) and they can block the old ones from working.

I've disabled key tracks before without the other key being present. Through SDS, you can read which key tracks are currently being used, as well as the key track of the key that you have. Then you just disable all other key tracks. If they had the blade, they would still be able to get into the car, but not much else.
A woman came into my work, lost one of her keys after a night out, and I disabled the lost key. Key does not have to be there for it to be disabled.

I figured this would be the case. It would not make sense to have the feature of disabling a key if it has to be present, especially if lost or stolen. I have done this on BMWs. The scanner can tell you what key is present (on BMWs), you put in each key to identify the ones you have in your possession and disable the ones that are unknown. I haven't tried this on Mercedes yet ... although I should ...
