First car is an E55!

First post here guys.
Picked up my 2006 E55 with a 72k on the clock back at the beginning of the year. Car was MY first car besides driving a 2006 Silverado for about a year. Both parents drive MB's.. '08 Ml350 and '13 C250 and Dad's toy is a '87 Grand National with a PB of 12.7
Loved the car so far, no problems... until now.
Seems that I have run into the dreaded fuel smell problem... aside from the car smelling like gas on the outside after filling it up, it has now begun to smell like gas on the inside as well.. Not quite as ripe as when the tank is full but it's definitely noticeable from what it has smelled like in the past. Before I get the "use the search button", I have and it seems like many of the threads are old and I would be appreciative if I could get a little collection of info in here.
A part from this little bump in the road, the car has been everything I could have possibly wanted and hope it to be for years to come with some mods.Thanks.

Does not appear like you tried too hard....Since you need to be spoon fed :

You should also file a complaint with the EPA.

Congrats and Welcome. Enjoy in good health.

Don't lose heart eh, almost everyone who has an E55 some even with E63 has suffered from

this issue in one way or other.

People who get a car like this as a first car are kinda setting themselves up for a difficult progression up the ladder. Everyone should start with barely-running crap-boxes so they can fully appreciate an actual good car.

My first two cars were free; that's how crap-tastic they were. Gotta ladder up!

First car.....'81 Corolla SR-5. The leather shift boot was hanging in tatters, no radio or a/c and the seats were so far gone that the previous owner put worn sheepskin covers on them. Man, what a piece. Parents paid $1000 for it.

Don't fill up all the way and you won't have the smell.

Respect the car and congrats!

AMEN! Seriously THIS. I went from 98 prizm, 95 gsr, m3, now e55. E55 is a crazy beast and I seriously doubt anything less than a C6 Z06 or new CTSV will compare. Thats one big step to the next car up... :|

Thanks guys! Yeah I hear it the first car was supposed to be a '79 Camaro but as it barely ran and runs into consistent problems it wasn't really practical. Going on 18 next month actually, I understand AMG being top of the ladder and am forever grateful and fortunate for what I've got and I realize that! Once again thanks guys I appreciate it and as we speak now that I am down to about 3/4 of a tank, the smell has started to recede greatly and is virtually not noticeable while driving, only after leaving it off for a good amount of time.

Thanks! Yeah the first time i had it out in the wet I realized that and switched it right into Comfort mode, seems to spin considerably less than Sport!

That's all on your foot... Shouldn't matter what mode you're in. Once the back end comes out, there's no stopping it.

Congrats on your car and from what I can see you are very grateful for what you've got which is a very good trait, most teens today (at least where I go to college) think that they are entitled to a car at 16-18 and make their parents buy them something flashy and expensive and don't don't thank their parents when they get what they want, damn shame, but at least you don't seem like that. Enjoy it in good health and drive safe!

Yeah I try to be as much as I can! As many of the guys above have pointed out it's not often that someone of my age gets a car as nice as an E55 so I feel I should be as appreciative and grateful as possible! Unfortunately Spring Branch is north of San Antonio rather than near Houston... Haha In the 9 months of having the car I've only met Zen who lives in SA and is trying to sell his car. Many more people in Houston running around! For the most part SA is filled with BMW guys, most of em are good guys but still... Makes me feel out of place rolling around with them all!

Yeah I thought it sounded familiar, we were going to go look at a ford lightning out there but it had a little too much under the hood.. 650whp on c16 if i remember? First pass was 10.50... anyway that's a different story Haha. Lots of nice cars in Houston!

Congrats! Make sure to check out your car with a dealer or whoever you see for that kind of stuff in Texas! Hopefully you'll get it fixed soon/in expensively and will be back to loving your car soon!

Thank you! And we already contacted the service department.. We know the service manager at the dealership so hopefully we'll be able to dodge anything too hefty!
