E63 Transmission Service DO or DON'T?
I purchased an E63 a couple months ago and just hit 51k miles and the previous owner skipped the recommended 40k tranny service. I've researched many mixed opinions and talked to a few indy shops. Ive heard people going 120k without service with no problem. And I've heard its bad to change fluid in these transmissions. Also I've seen responses to flush religiously every 20-40k miles? Not sure what to do..... most logical answer would be to get the flush done immediately but my transmission shifts and operates smoothly at the moment and I don't want that to change that but at the same time I'd still like to be preventative.

The overwhelming consensus is change filter and fluid only @40K mi intervals.
Hundreds of posts here in MBWorld and over on Benzworld on the topic of a "transmission flush".

Change the transmission oil ASAP. MB highly recommends it and it is in every book. If you don't plan to keep the car long - Skip it. This is one of the most critical service.

It seems like those who wait too long end up getting screwed by the flush as it dislodges degree that should stay put. Since you're doing it with low miles I don't see that happening.
My car never had it done and I picked it up with 85k on it. I just did a drain and refill to be safe. If it was close to their suggested interval, I would have followed the engineers suggestion.
Cheers!

Do the fluid and filter as MB recommends. Don't use a flush machine or any additives. The proper way to "flush" the trans and not have issues is to disconnect the trans cooler return line and add fluid as the trans pumps it out. With the 722.9 it's more difficult as you fill from the pan. The flush machines and additives are the source of issues after a trans service.
