There are stories like this for every make and model. I had a 650 convertible that was trouble free but had a M3 that was lemon lawed, also had a ML500 that was one of the worst cars I have ever owned but also have had a ML320 that was one of the best...

i dont get it.. how is this protesting BMW? They could give two ****s about where that car ends up once its paid for.... i mean not only did he clean it up after with a broom, he also paid to have the car towed lol......You showed them fat long haired German dude.. you.. showed... them. i feel it would have been much more effective if he had driven the car through the lobby of the dealership.. and then left it there.. at least make them deal with the clean up and removal.

He's super rich and doesn't care about the money. He did this to bring global attention to the fact that he had numerous issues with his BMW and they weren't doing very much to help. He wasn't there to cause trouble, he seems like a gentleman which is why he had it towed.
I think he did well, this article is on every news outlet and forum in the world. We are all doubting if we want a BMW now.
As far as BMW reliability, it seems like their 3 & 5 series, 35 and 28 motors are nearly bullet proof. The M, 6 and 7 series all tend to be nightmares, but occasionally you get lucky. My family owned a 2004 Range Rover and in the first year it spent 5 months at the dealership on and off. Luckily the dealer was nice enough to give us a loaner Range Rover every time, so it didn't really matter.

I drove an E36 M3 through college, then E39 M5 (one of the best damn cars I've owned) for nearly 5 years and then an E60 M5 for almost 2 years. No problems whatsoever, just common maintenance which were regular items.
I never had any issues with the M cars I owned, just modding them put a dent in my wallet!

The engine may be good but a friend of mine owned a 335i and it was always in the shop. They were widely known to have a handful of problems. I think the fuel pumps always broke and something else would go wrong. He got tired of it and sold it.

Before getting the E55 , I made a post on bimmerforum , regarding common issues and all about getting a 2006 M5 with 65k miles on the clock and I was warned against getting it.
General consensus was that if I don't have 4-5 grand extra to spend on it per year (not maintainence) , I should stay away. They said SMG, a computer system (forgot the exact term) and other issues are common problems. Then was the gas mileage and others things.
I was pretty happy on how much truth was there in what those guys said and now I'm happy with the purchase I made

that makes more sense now. cuz if I was really pissed and rich, i would've just taken a chain saw to it. the dude in the suit clearly wasn't doing his share of damaging the vehicle.

They are FAR from bulletproof, BMWs are amazing cars, M cars specifically but when they go down.. They usually go down hard... M3,5 and 6 have a huge list of common failures not mechanically and structurally. My car for example had several 2-7inch cracks in the subframe cost me close to $4k to repair... SMG pumps are ticking time bombs... Again $2-3k repair. Vanos failure...I fully understand his frustration. You guys think AMGs are a PITA... Drive a M car for a few years.... Guys that have or currently own M car will agree.
What are the issue's with the Vanos? That just stinks =(
I think Mercedes are the second most reliable german car following VW. Minus a 2004 range rover thats all my parents have driven the last 20 years. Currently we have a 2012 s550 and a 2013 slk350. Previous to that we had a 2008 cls500 and 2007 g55. All great cars and traded in with around 70k with no problems.
Whoever said get an Accord might have the right idea haha A fully loaded one sells for under 30k, plenty of mod money left for that price haha

4 BMW's including a 2002 M5 and had great ownership experiences, without any repetitive or major issues.
In America some liberal ***** would have already been suing the guy for not providing safety glasses at his hulk smash bimmer event.
