2012 RENNTECH CLS63 beating my CTSV
Me and a few guys went out last night to have some fun runs so I figured that I would share some with you guys here and get some opinions. No excuses, but here are the facts. We ran from 45 or so to 145-150 and he starts pulling at about 110 or so...watch the run...
First of all, I was surprised to be as close as I was to this Renntech CLS. I had a passenger (150lbs) I am 275 but I am the driver so that won't change. He weighed about 190lbs maybe 200lbs. Really neither here nor there but it is the passenger that I should have booted but I was spinning tires pretty hard so I figured..ehhhh...just stay in the car as I knew I would spin so I figured maybe I would spin less! (tires are going on next week after next set of mods bc of dyno runs needed) So, after the night of runs I noticed a tire looked low so I checked my pressure on my dash and all tires were 27-28lbs. We all know that when running you should have 40-50lbs in the fronts and probably more like 32lbs (with street tires) in the rear or so, give or take.
So my debate is this, how much closer do you guys think I would have been if I took the passenger out of my car and had 45lbs of air in my fronts? The drag of having 27lbs of pressure at 120mph just gets worse, as we all know, the faster you go. Taking into account that we would have ran from more like 55 so I would not have spun so much so do NOT take spinning into account, just power.
I would go out tonight to do it again with him and get the 'actual' results but I am going away tomorrow and my tuner wanted the car before I left to do the next mods. As I always say, I can handle losing and to the guy in the CLS!
Also, sorry the vid is soooo short...very amateur camera person obviously who started it when we went so with the delay who knows what speed we were at already...could have been 80 for all I know! I will get a go-pro eventually, I promiss.
P.S. There were many guys out last night and I had plenty of wins but this is the most interesting run of them all. Enjoy!

My friend's E63 with only a RennTech tune ran 11.1 @128mph on street tires.
His CLS63 on stock tires with a RennTech tune ran 11.3 @125
His CTS-V coupe on stock tires ran an 11.98 @116pmh, same track, same conditions.
I don't know what mods you have, if any, to your CTS-V but that was a strong little run.

I am jealous of your friend lol And assume the CTS-V time was with it stock?
I ran a white Renntech E63 in Miami with blacked out tail lights, his name is slipping my mind, he also had a Alpha 9 GT-R though.
Elliot said he had a little more than a tune in the E63 since he knows the guy, I am not sure though, if it was anything it was minor. Elliot rode with me when we ran, I had a messed up intercooler pump at the time though so after our first run my performance went down hill. First run I went about 1.5 cars out on him, I am sitting at around 640whp though in my V and ran 10.7@130 on drag radials (what I run daily).
Nomad's V has intake/exhaust and a tune with upper pulley and ported snout if I remember correctly and is in the shop now to get lower pulley I think.

You're talking a 12mph difference in the same conditions. I don't know what mods you have to your CTS-V but that was a strong little run.

My car has a few things and has ran well. I would put my list of mods in my sig but I feel stupid doing that here on the benz forum being that I sold my E55 last week!
I have only upper pulley, corsa exh, cold air and tuned by enzo racing (the key ingredient) I do have 850 injectors but they don't do anything for power...as we all know!

The guy I am talking about is Steve (SGC on here). He always seems to squeak out ridiculous times out of his cars.
If he keeps his CTS-V coupe till winter, he said he was going to put some heavy mods on it. Those cars respond very nicely to minimal mods.

Oh ok, heard of him but haven't met him. I will try to make it down there some time when I am going through to the Keys or something. I know there is a guy named Manny with a black V sedan down there that runs like 9.6-9.8 range at mid 140s at PBIR.
When I get back in town from work I am going to have my cars tune adjusted since the tuner said he had to take some timing out of it due to my pump being messed up when we were tuning. I am hoping I can get another 10-15whp out of it by adding the timing back in and then I am going to be adding meth injection and getting him to tune for that for another 30whp or so. I want to run 10.2-10.3@135 in normal weather. I am sure in the winter it won't be a problem but we will see.

P.S. But...I will be running on E85!

Nice run 60Nomad. The Benz' are fast with mods for sure. 75 shot would have changed the results dramatically. Hint hint. Then you could take a third buddy. lol

3rd to 4th was a really bad delay, the car actually bounced! Then it wouldn't shift into 5th at all so I shut it down. Gonna find some time maybe tom night to get back on the highway and see if its working properly after disconnecting the battery as informed by eurocharged. As soon as she's ready il be making some appointments lol

Trouble shifting in to 4th shouldn't have been to much of a problem, the race should be pretty close to over by that point! That is weird that it is doing something like that though.

The tcu tune is supposed to make it shift faster than stock. That delay and momentum killer turns into a fast shift and it's going to look different.

Regarding you tire inflation statement. Actually the faster you go the less tire pressure matters as far as power loss. The centrifugal force of the tire spinning faster and faster pulls it "round" for lack of a better term.

Scooters, i know but the concept is the same.
