Sorry for the newbie question but im in the market for an E55 or maybe an E63.
I see they all have projectors but do some have HIDs from the factory or do all come with HIDs ????
and if not, how do I make sure I get one with HIDs? Is there a code that I can look for on the door sticker?
Thanks!!!

Not all have hid's. Look for the little triangular cutout in the bumper that houses the headlight washers that pop up in front of the headlights to find out if it came from the factory with hid's.

^ The easiest and most obvious way is to do the above. Headlight washers will be present on equipped cars.
Code wise, I believe you need one of the following in the options list:
614 bixenon headlights or 615 active cornering bixenon headlights

It's not a big deal if your car isn't equipped with one. The lens on the equipped cars isn't very good. So if you get a good deal don't leave it just cuz of
headlights. Rather get it and put in an aftermarket 35 or 55watt HID kit and you'd be much happier than with the car that came equipped.

HIDs are an option, though most E55s seem to be equipped with them. I have had one with and one without. Frankly, there isn't much difference in how well they light the road. The HIDs are a whiter light, but there is a marginal improvement in how well you can see.

I have 615 and my dash shows headlight cornering failure on the dash. I didnt see too many threads on this, could this be the turn angle sensor on the back wheel?

^ It could be the actual mechanism (motor/gearing) in the headlight itself or maybe a sensor as you said. No way to tell until you get it on STAR. I have the 615 option as well and one of the headlights was replaced once, not sure what the problem was... but it was an issue in the housing itself.

Interesting info ... didnt realize halogens had no washers. I hate the washers ... Why would I want to spray water all over my car?
Audis are even more retarded forcing a headlight spray every third windshield spray ... Faults seen for active cornering are likely headlight issues. One of mine went out a few weeks ago ... Looks like the other one is developing a fault also.
