check engine light came on and loud squeel
Gents,
Can you provide any quidance? I was out and about this am and while heading home my check eng light came on and upon shutting down the car a loud squeel came from under the hood.
Car is dirving strong as i did get on it a few times as I was driving home from my sons school and from AJ's -(getting her cleaned up for the weekend)
i of course immediately called my SA at the dealership and have not heard back - (big shock) -
Any of you have this happen to you?
Best
Mike

all belts look good - it sounds like a gate that needs to be lubed is the only way to describe the sound - after shut off its like a squeal that lasts 2 seconds - dealer called me back and its going in on tuesday - said it may be a vacuum leak of some sort - its drives fine, just sounds like something is wrong - needles to say its parked til tuesday - and just got it out of the detail shop too

Start the car, let it run for a minute and pull the dipstick. Then shut the car off with the dipstick out. I am willing to bet you wont hear the noise. It sounds to me like your purge vent valve is toast. It sits behind the intake manifold. This is an easy way to diagnose it. The valve fails and crankcase pressure builds up. The noise you hear is the pressure bleeding off through the stuck valve.
