is it the diaphragm that is actually faulty and leaking or is just the green o ring usually?
its been snowing and icy so car has been sitting at home the last 2 days, hopefully wednesday the roads will clear up so i can get the car back to work and start taking it apart.
Shardul where did you find the diaphragm for the price you stated? cheapest i found was $95 shipped.

good to hear, use the epoxy then put the right stuff over the epoxy if you want, i used epoxy resin on my rxpx's bilge pump setup to keep it in place in the hull, and its been holding for 2 years now, with oil and fuel residue floating around the bottom, from constantly upgrading my ski. so far the plastic base is still stuck to the ski.

so i dont think my diaphragm was the issue.... i dont see any fuel around or sign of it spewing fuel. will replace the seal and re install.
the only other thing worth mentioning is that the rear passenger side intake port/ gasket is wet and looks like fuel/air might have been getting passed the gasket.
Is this possible?

actech - That definitely looks like the exact same leak I had. The part number for the pulsation damper is visible in the picture I posted on page 2. Good luck with the fix and enjoy driving your car again :-)

06cls55amg, in your first picture is the fuel hose squeezed between the pump screw cap and the frame, it looks like the hose bulges at the contact point, should the hose not be oriented to the open space showing at about 6 o'clock position.

Looks like I have this fuel leak as well from dampening gasket. Getting smell after cold start up and going thru the vents. Ordered the part and will get installed

Damper replacement
Yes, you can do it without removing fuel rail....you will have to remove the passenger side surge tank though....push some rags under the damper to catch the fuel. Make sure all the fuel pressure is off the rail....every time you turn your key to #2 position it will pressurize the rail. Depending on how bad its leaking it won't have pressure. Usually when they start leaking they poor out the fuel pretty good so you shouldn't have to worry. I just had to replace mine yesterday after larger injectors and tune....after you do it once it takes 15min...correction I also had the TB off as well

Fuel smell in cabin
has mercedes done anything in regards to wearing the cost to rectify the fuel leak in the w211 E55- I had to remove my family from the car the other day as the fuel smell was that bad and walk home I have dropped the car off to the dealer and asked him with no reply yet - I thought it was just my car until doing some research - completely unacceptable warranty or not in this day and age - thanks

PLEASE READ. I am currently having my car repaired by the dealership at no cost to me. I went back and forth with Regional reps in N.J., and the Service Manager agreed to replace both sending units for free. They now called back and stated that MB issued an "extended warranty " on the entire fuel system, and said we will be getting new fuel lines and a tank as well. NO COST, and we have a loaner. I suggest everybody look into this. I went back and forth with the dealership for months with this wonderful outcome. I created this account today just to notify all of the other frustrated owners of vehicles that are defective and dangerous. Please feel free to PM me for more details in regards to what I did, and for pics of the leaking fuel sending units. I am posting this because I am not sure if they will make an anouncement, or apply it to customers who provide enough pushback. PLEASE READ, I am sure you all are as frustrated as I was.

So here is my issue:
Both independent shops in town claimed you had to remove the fuel rail to remove and replace the regulator. I have not removed the regulator yet but from what is said here you don't need to remove the rail.
I have the throttle body gasket and the surge gasket and am waiting for the regulator to come in tomorrow.

I just replaced mine yesterday and it fixed the fuel smell I was getting in the engine bay. Found it for $49 at MB of North Lake http://www.mbnorthlake.com/index.htm You can purchase from them online.
You can see how shriveled up the old O-ring was.
