Getting read for a faster New Year, need advice
Hi everyone, at the moment I'm running a 180mm crank pulley, Bosch 10 pump (bit old), BMC filters, and a mild tune.
I've got the following mods on order, ready to be installed soon:
[a] Kleeman Headers ceramic coated, [b] New Bosch 10 pump, [c] EC HE, [d] Shardul BWK, [e] Eurocharged Tune.
Recently had a full major service done including transmission flush and the beast is running well. Car has been mechanically meticulously maintained during my ownership and the previous owner (a good friend).
My question is before I get the mods installed and Eurocharged Tune uploaded are there any other parts / mods I should think about replacing / installing to ensure the New Year is much faster without springing any nasty surprises (apart from avoiding the speed cameras
)
Keen to get your thoughts and opinions...

I would work on cooling mods. Heat exchanger, colder T stat and seperate cooling. Also go with at least one step colder spark plugs.

Do motor mounts when the headers get installed.....it will be simple at that point.
Everyone I've heard indicates that motor mounts are a real pain to swap out once you're running headers....so do it now!![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

You don't need a heat exchanger upgrade, what you do need is the following:
Killer chiller
Meth kit
90mm tb kit
Split cooling kit
Hit me up if you have any questions.

I agree with all the advice stated above.. I would also add a quaiffe LSD, (great mod).. Might want to look into a 82mm TB... Good luck and have fun with the process, I know I did and my little girl is a Beast...![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

This place is a joke.
Fuel filter, and maybe the pump depending on your mileage. Also send out your injectors to be flow tested/cleaned,just my advice. Get your fuel system at 100% first.

Many thanks guys for the input, very interesting reading.
On the cooling side, I was considering the split-cooling option, but need to find out who is doing a good deal on one. Hopefully this should be sufficient to keep keep things cooler alongside the new EC HE & Bosch 10 pump. Killer Chiller is something maybe further down the line. Meth-Kit - what's the cost involved and is it an easy install? Are there any downsides to a Meth-Kit?
Regarding plugs what is the key benefit to moving to one-step colder. Also does anyone have the part number of the NGK plugs in question. I just replaced all 16 plugs as part of the service, so gonna be a bit painful replacing them all again, but I suppose at least I'll have a set spare !!.
Been reading about TBs, and some of the sporadic issues, so may defer till later, perhaps after I've had the listed mods installed and enjoy them all before moving on !
Fuel filter, pump and motor mounts will be checked (and replaced if need be) before first go-live date!
Blue ML99 - I'm in Dubai and all servicing and maintenance is done by my local AMG specialist, (I don't use the dealership, as they take you to the cleaners and don't really inspire confidence). My local indy is an AMG veteran and he's gonna be installing all the mods.
As they say this is a work-in-progress and next milestone will be early in the New Year.

Can someone chime in on the following:
1. Split-cooling option - whose doing a good deal on one
2. Meth-Kit - what's the cost involved and is it an easy install? Are there any downsides?
3. Part number for the one-step colder NGK plugs
Cheers

Split cooling is easy. A trunk tank works best IMO. And any one can do it.
Sorry I forgot the part numbers for the colder plugs. But I do run them.

Meth is easy to install. If you tune for it you have to be careful not to run out. I ran meth with no tune for it so that if I did run out (which I have) I had no issues.

Are the one step colder NGK plugs these? - Part #: LFR7AIX- 2309. Just seen them on sparkplug.auto and they're going for $6.56. Seems like a good deal.

Many thanks Red Bull Junky, probably kick off with the split cooling first. Who is selling a kit at a reasonable price?

I bought in from a member here. You just separate the engine cooling from the sc cooling. Won't cost that much $$$ at all.

My mods are slowly arriving, received the new EC HE and EC Tune & Euro Flash recently. Shardul's BWK arriving next week followed by the new CC Kleeman Headers. Once I get the split-cooling kit and NGK cold-step plugs, the car will go into the operating theatre in the New Year, hopefully transformed into a raging monster

OK,most of the mod parts have now arrived barring the NGK one step colder plugs (arriving tomorrow). Car will be going in to the local workshop end of this week.
On the additional split-cooling side, trying to decide between the under the hood (BMW reservoir) option vs trunk tank. Temps here in the summer here in Dubai get pretty hot, so am leaning towards the second option. Is there a huge difference between the two in terms of overall benefits. Also understand the under the hood kit requires bleeding, how is this done and does it require to be done frequently. Last question, anyone know approx cost of trunk tank kit. Many thanks

Anyone got any thoughts on my previous questions?
Also want to know whether it's a good idea to wait for the split cooling kit and then install all the mod parts in one hit including the EC TUNE. If I don't do the split now, will it have any impact on the tune??

Planning to do the split cooling alongside the other cooling mods, but wanted to know whether it would be ok to do the split after the car is tuned. Will this have any impact on the tune itself?
All the mods listed above are sitting at home waiting to be installed, but I was contemplating waiting for the split cooling kit (under the hood reservoir vs trunk tank) and then do everything in one go.
Give me a call sometime, drop me a PM
