1st Trip to the track, does this sound about right?
I am new to the AMG world, have had my 2004 E55 for about a year now and I finally got out the drag strip last evening. I've made hundreds of passes in all kinds of different machinery but this car has a personality all it's own. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Anyway, I just wonder if my time seems about right. I've been all over dragtimes and gone through lots of threads but I still wonder what some of you seasoned AMG guys think.
My mods are as follows:
Primary AND Secondary cat-delete
Resonator delete
Rear Mufflers piped with 3" plumbing from rear of front cats to mufflers, factory AMG cans have modified inlets to accommodate the 3" pipe (I did not do this to the car it was in place when I purchased)
K&N Filters in factory housings
180F PTE T-Stat
Bosch 010 I/C Pump
Eurocharged H/E
Eurocharged Tune
The car is lowered through STAR and I did NOT raise the suspension at the track.
My best pass was as follows:
60' 1.903
330' 5.172
1/8 7.815
MPH 93.04
1000' 10.076
1//4 11.968
MPH 119.53
I was running SportConti DW's, 275 section width, car in comfort setting on suspension, sport mode on trans and traction control ON after burnout. Temp was 65F / sea level, track prep - not too great. I experienced a lot of traction control induced bog so I know it's got more to give but DRs will be needed to get some of it.
What do you AMG gurus think?

Thanks for the replies. At least it sounds like the car is healthy. ![Wink](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I have an ailing tensioner pulley so I will be replacing some pullies and ordering a belt wrap kit from Shardul this week.
Then I'll probably do plugs, wires and coil packs (the car has 84k on it and everything looks original) and return to the track with some DRs and really see what I can squeeze out of her.![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Thanks again for the input. I appreciate it very much!

This place is a joke.
You've got about .2 left in your 60ft time with drag radials..They won't affect your mph much, so you should see 11.70's. You'll hear people say every .1 in 60ft is worth .2 at the end but it simply isn't true at these power levels. You should get some Kleeman headers now.

I cut a 1.79 on street tires, im sure some have done better thought. The problem with street tires is its tough to consistently cut a good 60 and you end up just wasting runs when you don't hook.

We used to get decent track prep but nothing special. 1.72's were consistent for me once I figured out how to launch these cars.

I've heard the "2 for 1" rule on the short times. Sometimes it's true sometimes it's not. Where this car may gain is past 60' but still as a result of a cleaner launch. In other words the current short time doesn't really tell the story of the way the car lays down right after the launch and the resulting yo-yo effect that takes place for probably 100' or so.

True statement right here
I remember you talking to Alan on the phone when we were at Sac and giving him tips on how to set the car up to launch. I used those techniques to consistently run 11.7's & 11.8's when I was stock. With only 5 passes on my car since mods I haven't had a chance to really practice that technique at the new power level.

I'm heading back to the dragstrip tonight. Would you be willing to coach me on your launch technique? (Or perhaps direct me to a coaching thread you've already done. I've searched but not yet found.)
I've done a belt wrap kit, all 5 idlers, an 83mm S/C pulley and and updated tune from EC since the last outing.
Thanks for your help!
