Said goodbye to e55 - it hurt...

Bought our 05 e55 in Jan of 08 CPO. The car was rock solid and strong from purchase date to just recently being traded in. Original plan was to sell when I bought the 08 e63 a few years later but could not muster the courage to let it go. Added, my wife was born and raised in Germany so handing her the e55 came with no argument. I have a decent commute so both ended up being DDs for us.

This past June I co-founded a tech start up and that is where the $$ focus is. I veered logical (when it comes to cars logic is out the window) due to my investment in our startup. And quicker than I thought would happen, ended up trading it in for a 2011 IS 350 with the F Sport package. Definitely not an AMG, but logical. Back under warranty, better mileage for commute etc. But already laying plans for 2014+ e63 or s63 once out of the woods on startup risk.

My household mourned for days, including my 10 year old daughter who grew to appreciate putting non respecting cars in the place Nothing worse than a 10 year old girl smirk post losing upon stopping at the next red light. Although the pain cannot compare, it was similar to putting our 14 year old alpha American Bulldog down 2 years ago. Both were the most loyal beast that demanded respect.

Thank god we have the e63 still in the drive way.

Bottom line they are currently not worth that much, but invaluable in the kick in the pants department. Don't forget to appreciate it!

It's at Lexus of Marin in CA. On autotrader as well. Always bone stock, 92k miles, Eurotek diffuser and aftermarket wheels. Every button still works. Front bushings etc will need to be addressed sooner rather than later. What blows my mind is they didn't even wash / clean the car before posting the pics. I also noticed the carfax calls out it being for sale 3 times which is incorrect. I bought single owner CPO with 21k miles and had it until just recently. If he's serious have him PM me.

bummer - but at least a new one is on the horizon.

I know the feeling as I think my 04 will be going away in the Spring - going to need a new SUV for the wife with a 2nd kid coming.

What kind of tech startup? I work in the Valley and always intersted in who is starting up what and where?

I'm a semiconductor guy. Currently in stealth mode (or trying to be). Just raised a decent seed round now up to 18 employees. Targeting how best to take advantage of flash memory in the hyper scale / data center environments. Office is located at Santana Row which is not a bad start. Brutal commute though as I live in the east bay, hence the Lexus...

very Cool - i spent 6 years at AMAT so i know the space well too. Congrats on starting things up - SR is not a bad place to have your office, but yes that commute has to suck - i moved from the E Bay to S Bay 12 years ago - and now live literally 10 mins to SR - makes it convenient when we want to get a bite/drink

keep a look out for my "shgnwgn" -
