A little trunk modification (pics)
Due to the fact that in one week I've been stranded twice and had to replace both a voltage regulator and a crank position sensor, I felt I needed to keep a few tools in the 55. After playing around a bit I decided the area under the trunk floor had plenty of room for me to shove some emergency gear into.I just needed a way to secure my spare 220 piece craftsman kit.
After pulling the spare (would never use it anyways), I noticed the lower foam ring.
Hmm, maybe I could trace the toolbox and build a secure holding spot for it so it wouldn't slide around.
Looks like it will work!
Well hell, there's a raised section of plastic in the middle so my toolbox wouldn't nestle into the foam.
A little Dremel work and then I used a piece of rubber and weather sealant to keep the elements out and also give a little more grip to the toolbox so it won't slide when I'm throwing the rear around
Ahhh, tools, fuses, and jumper cables, all snugly secure under the floor. Now I feel a lot better about taking this thing out on the road
And yes, I tried to get the toolkit squared but didn't realize the underside mold was so exact with the ribs. It is what is, and it's out of sight anyways.
Enjoy the weekend gang!

Hehe yeah it has them. I also loaded my strip of E3-E12 reverse Torx bits in there. With my luck the crank position sensor will go out again after replacing it Friday.

The only other think you will need to worry about is the little box just to the right of your jumper cables bolted to the back side of trunk with the one cable going to it. The name is slipping my mind right now but think it is battery control module. They are a few hundred too so not quite cheap.
Controls the voltage to the battery, I swapped one in after I had already replaced the battery and voltage regulator when I low voltage problem turned up. It didn't fix the problem because the damn alternator itself had crapped out not to long after changing the voltage regulator on it. But those battery control module things are sometimes another issue if you end up with a visit workshop light or accessories temporarily disabled display and all that good stuff.
