Ignition timing
I have a question, what do you guys who view or datalog your sensors see for timing at the OBD port?
I am seeing timing always in the negative values and it's throwing me off. I am used to seeing timing in the 30s to 40s for EVERY OTHER car I have looked or tuned, but for the E55, I am seeing negative 20s to negative 30s and the same under WOT (mid to low negative 20s).
Is this normal??? Are OBD scanners simply reading in reverse?

Timing should show up in negative values since its degrees before top dead center. When I used to log my BMWs it would show in negative values also. But with forced induction engines it should be way lower. I would guess in the upper teens or low low 20s. N/A cars will be in the 30-40 range.

Interesting BmwBob, I have logged many a cars but never a European car. All the american and Japanese cars I've logged always showed values in the positives unless something was very wrong

I am used to seeing the negative numbers with my previous cars so I think that's just how the germans do it. What are you using to log with? I will be in the market to some such equipment soon and any insight would be appreciated.

Actron OBDII scanner, just make sure it's a model that can read PIDs.
Doesn't do much but give me generic codes and lets me see the live sensor values
