Drain plug on converter, E55 2004?

My dealer says that flushing the gearbox is easily done because there is a drain plug on the 722.6 E55 trannys torque converter?

I have looked in the EPC and according to the picture there is a drain plug. Se picture below. Part number 12 and 15.

Isnīt it much easier to drain the oil this way apart from the other kind of process where you have to disconnect an oil line from the radiator and start and turn off the car repeatedly?

That's strange, as i remember; MB replaces all kind of 722.6 converters that has drain plug to non-drain plug from aug/2002,,

is your converter has that plug..?, if so, your converter may changed....?!!?

This is a picture from EPC based on my VIN-number. The drain plug and the seal are selectable and can be viewed.

If the parts didnīt fit, there would be a message saying that the selected parts donīt fit the actual car.

OK. I see. I donīt think that itīs been swapped on my E55.

He was probably smiling because he knows how much more time it takes to flush the tranny without this plug.

2005 E55 Black, 2007 GL450 Carneol Red
EPC show the same diagram for my 2005 E55 with two different plugs for #12 with the note: "[070] DETERMINE THREAD SIZE BEFORE ORDERING"

Part number N 000000 000884 M10x1mm

and the other:

Part number A 001 990 11 17 M8x1.0mm

But, I just serviced my transmission this past week, and I assure you that my 2005 E55 does NOT have a converter drain plug. (My 1999 C43 DID have the drain plug (although they claimed at the time that they had 'lifetime fluid' - and it needed a new transmission at 101,000 miles), and as cm60k and many others have stated, MB is saving the couple dollars by eliminating the drain plug. )

Besides the HOW TO: Transmission Flush in this forum, I also found http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w210-e-class/1474216-photo-diy-722-6-conductor-plate.html - Photo DIY- 722.6 Conductor Plate and Regulator Valve Spring R/R very helpful, especially as I was replacing my conductor plate also.

Thanks Kropf.

I wish that MB would fix the information on the EPC. How many hours of labor should a shop charge for flushing the tranny?

This place is a joke.
The EPC is not always correct. The drain plug was eliminated in all cars starting sometime in the early 2000's

+1

Most photos on EPC are "general" photos, meaning they are used on a wide variety of years, models, etc. Even if there's a part number shown for a drain plug, for your exact VIN, I wouldn't rely on EPC to be the end all say on what your car is equipped with. EPC is very reliable but not 100%.
