Given the stats which would you buy?
Hello everyone,
Let me start by saying I am new to MBworld. I may be a permanent member once I make my first Mercedes purchase. I have had all the other cars in the past (Lexus, BMW etc.) I am about to by a new car (new for me) and I want the opinions of the experienced "Benz Heads" on this site.
I have two cars I am looking at and I would like your opinions on what you would buy.
2005 e55 AMG with dynamic seats, navi, etc. 70k miles for $15,500
OR
2005 e500 w/AMG sport package and dynamic seats, navi, etc. 83K miles for $12,500
A quick reason for your choice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hey guys....did a car fax and found out the car was in an accident. The passenger side door had to be replaced. All the work was completed by Mercedes Benz. I am told the total cost of the repair was around $12k. I am going to take a look at the car on Friday and I am having it inspected by Mercedes Benz dealership. The inspection is going to cost me $450. Should I still consider this car if all else checks out?

I am 100% sure that the parts an craftsmanship if it was repaired by Mercedes was top Notch. So my vote is get the car put the thing on the road, mod it an enjoy it.

With all do respect. This is an incomplete set of information to answer such a question.
Nobody can make an educated answer for this terrible question.
We don't know the condition difference between the two cars. The options are not fully mentioned, only with "et cetera," which is not informative.
I could make an assumption that both cars are in equal condition. But why should I assume Ceteris Paribus? But everyone knows what they say about making assumptions.
I'm on this forum to learn from others experiences and to provide my knowledge when I have something productive to give. This kind of question doesn't help me help the original poster.
Now we're finding out that the E55 seems to have suffered an accident. What else should we know before we give you our informed opinion of which car you should procure.

I just revealed the information about the accident because I just found it out myself! Why would I hold that information back? It only hurts me in the end... As for the information I gave about the cars....it seems that 32 people felt it was enough information to give me an answer. I got what I needed. Thanks
I still respectfully think it's a poor question.
And there's an obvious answer to the question. A more expensive to begin with car, same year, with less mileage for less money. Assuming ceteris paribus (or not assuming ceteris paribus, doesn't matter at this point). Who on Earth would go for the E500 over the E55 in your question? Especially in an E55 forum.
I appreciate you being cordial in the response.

if your worried about the maintenance on a E55 vs a E500
DONT!
A E500 will cost as much to maintain as a E55.
Any issues with the Supercharger are minor such as IC leaking or replacing a pulley.
Its the same car with nicer leather, a SC, a handbuilt motor, exhaust tips/mufflers, and a body kit

Okay, if that's how you feel.
