one more question...Did you buy a set of various mandrel bends and cut and piece them together or did they bend those for you?

no this is just a kit that comes with two 5' straight pipes, and two 45 degree, two 90 degree, and two 180 degree bends... now those are your pieces and you do the puzzle about 5hrs worth

Your entire exhaust system is free flowing/open?

You must've lost a noticeable amount of low end grunt/torque, no? I've done everything except stock headers/primaries in place, but I am afraid if I open her up too much, it'll lose all it's low end umph, although gain substantially in the mid-range and top end.

Sounds MEAN!

There is an X pipe and the mufflers, but in fact I may have gained more power for being so restricted as I was

The amount of loss you'll feel if any, in the low-end, is greatly surpassed by the amount gained in the mid to top-end ..... I would not let the fear of losing low-end grunt, deter me from doing headers/full exhaust .....the gain outweighs the barely noticeable loss..... Think of it as a little better traction downlow and a lot better breathing up top. But I will say this with no cats the car stinky and the stock exhaust is so close to 3 inch anyway it may not be worth it for some guys to do full custom exhaust ......put the headers on and rock on. Btw I have Kleemans cut to 3in.> 3in flex pipe... And 3in ss > 3in H pipe > 3in ss > stock mufflers.... Sorry for the rant .....Bert car looks good ...bet you love having those restrictive pipes gone

I like using Columbia River for all my pipe kits, great quality and price. The shipping is expensive, so make sure you get everything you need.

It's a positive displacement blower car... there's plenty of low end grunt, lol. Stepping up to a larger exhaust reduces your low rpm velocity, thereby reducing scavenging and finally torque. Like MAN stated, though, your mid/high rpm ranges will far outweigh anything you lose out of the bottom.

Columbia river is who I always buy from. Sign up on their b stock list and you can save some money buying odd angle bends. It doesn't matter since you cut them up anyway.

Sounds AWESOME man. 3" with an X-pipe is the way to go on these cars. Congrats!

Maybe on the dyno graph, but definitely not noticeable. I have 3inch pipes with longtubes and X-pipe and NO mufflers. def no cats or res.

And remember, I'm the only E55 with a 1.4 60ft.

With that being said, I agree with these guys

I've also got the 3" setup with C63 mufflers and MBH headers. I don't know how these mufflers can be so quiet while cruising and so loud at WOT, but I do like it. There is one underpass I go through frequently. I like to pop open the sunroof and drop it down a few gears when I go through. Sounds awesome.
