Do E55s and SLs have the same rear diff/LSD on equipped models?

Do E55s and SLs have the same rear diff/LSD on equipped models?

A member is selling an LSD out of a P30 SL and I'm trying to figure out if the LSD from the SL will work in my E55. Looked through search and haven't seen this question asked yet... If I'm wrong feel free to show me.

Thanks in advance!

I know at least the gearing is different. 2.82 in the SL compared to 2.65 in the E (iirc). I'd think a Quaife would be the better option if you're just looking for LSD.

I think if the car has P30 package it is the same as SL65 but I seen members put P30 differential on NON-P30. I will try to find you a thread.

This place is a joke.
What year SL? The early ones have smaller diffs and axles. SL also has 2.82 gear which will require a TCU tune to work in the E55. If you are thinking to take it apart and use the limited slip components, not sure if that is a wise choice. Better off buying a wavetrac for your E, unless you want the 2.82 gear. The wavetrac works better than the factory LSD.

This. I have heard good things about the WaveTrac Helical LSD and will be the route I take eventually. They go for about $1250.

If you can get the P30 LSD at a bargain get it, it's a 12 bolt unit same as the one that's in your 05 e55, all you have to do is transfer over your gear ring.
