Motor Mounts and Long tube Headers
I've been searching all over and can not find an answer to my question so I figures Id post it.
How much harder is it to change motor mounts if you have long tube headers on your W211 E63?

When did you get the headers installed? You shoud've just done the motor mounts while getting the headers done. Preventative measure and would've saved you a lot of time (and money if you're not doing your own work).

I have not gotten headers yet. This is one of the reasons why I'm hesitant to get headers because of possibly the added difficulty doing motor mounts if the time should come.
My question, does anyone know how to change the motor mounts if you have long tubes?

It's very difficult to change the motor mounts if you have long tube headers installed. It's simple, replace them at the same time the headers are getting installed and you won't have to worry about them for years.

Going through this problem right now - did my headers and I assume the added torque caused my mounts to act up. Now I have serious vibration in 1st gear only, on a hard take off. Went back to the exhaust shop about 1 million times until they put my car on a dyno to see the engine movement under full load - it moved 25mm! Mercedes say it should only move a max of 10mm under full load. The problem with custom headers is that they get really close to the engine bay walls and steering column. Any added twisting by the engine will cause contact.
I have 2 options: Remove headers and replace mounts normally or get my car on a proper lift and unbolt/drop the sub frame to gain access to the mounts. Both are a pain in the *** and labour intensive. Take my advice, do your mounts before you do your headers! I am flat broke again and have to live with worn mounts for the next few months because the parts and labour will cost me $ 700.00.

That or your headers are lifting on the left side of the car, Hitting the underbody, causing massive vibration, only in first under heavy load with traction......Anyone ever doing any headers install..... change motor mounts and add a extra o2 bung for less headaches and less "double work" .....

There is at least one thread that tells you to replace motor mounts before you install headers....

PLM's with primary delete are the only headers going on my car after reading all this. Not worth it after the hoops I had to jump to get the driverside mount in and out
