I bought a 3.06 215mm SRT8 gear for my 2004 W220 S55.

My issue is - when I took apart my S55 rear end the pinion gear shaft was very different than the SRT8.


My S55 pinion was taller then the SRT and there are two threaded areas for nuts on my S55 pinion, one near the tip and one by the crush sleeve. Can anyone help me out.....is the 04 S55 different then an E55??? Does an S55 have a 226mm gear??? Does anyone have a picture of a W211 E55 Pinion?

 

S55 rear housing and diff are different than the E55.

 

But is the ring and pinion supposed to be the same?
