t50 torx

the double idler pulley bolt is a t50 torx. the tensioner bolt is a t40 torx. i know why couldnt both of those bolts be the same right?? see if you have a t50, and that should do the trick. not much room there, may consider removing that fan shroud out of the way. hope that helps.

Thanks!

Im alll done but I should tell you guys looking to get a BWK, make sure you have the tools needed. My Torx bits were too long and I had a hard time removing and installing the bolts on the kit because the ratchet would hit the fan shroud.

For those who have a BWK, what brand of torx bits did you guys use for the bolts?

I have craftsman and I could not fit it with a ratchet because it would hit the radiator shroud.

I have a torx socket set from harbor freight but I had to remove the torx bit from the socket and then use a small box wrench on the torx bit.

Snap on/blue point 1/4" drive stubby. They measure a 1/2" tall!

I tried this but the wrench was not big enough for me to be able to apply enough force.

Any link to the Snap On stubby ?

Maybe you can slip a small breaker bar / tube over the wrench for more leverage?

Or just remove the fan (takes 5min) and save your knuckles, and bunch of time.

Fan shroud removal can save time, as you can get to all the bolts a little easier and it helps to put accesory belt back on. Just depends on what tools you have available. The CL and S class have about 3-4" of extra room between idlers and fan than E class.

Hi

Which bolt is easier to remove from the bwk? (the double idller pulley to the left of the motor or the one to the right under the supercharger pulley)

Does the 8mm allen key work with either bolt?

Regards,

OZZYAMG

the bolt to the right of the supercharger pulley was the easiest for me. made the mistake of not placing the belt inside so thought about the double idler pulley set to remove but i had already set the serpentine belt on all those pulleys and maze so went to remove the bolt right of supercharger pulley. more room is available there due to its indention to the bwk, and you are allowed to move it up to slid the belt inbetween without much disruption of the bwk. dont remember whether 8mm allen key worked but which ever allen key it is, its the same one for both bolts. at work, sorry. but definitely the "right bolt".
